What Are You Doing Today?

SO is out of the house! Sheets are washed as is a load of ironables. How do two people create so much laundry? There is a curse on me.
Everything for a batch of jalapenos en escabeche is sitting on the kitchen counter. I eat it like there is no tomorrow. Spicy, hot pickles.
Steam my jacket and jeans. SO did a good job on my belt. My friend got stuck for 45 minutes in traffic and still came to deal with the infamous shirt. It fits! Just the base shirt is around $200. Does that mean my play money just increased by what I did not spend? Good try, yeah!

Surfing the news, laughing my kester off at all the dumbasses in the world. Thank God, and greyhound, I am not famous, realized early on in life wrinkles are just a story of your life's up and downs. That I accept the fact I am 78 and a walking, talking miracle every day I breathe. I could ramble on, but I will not. Just extremely grateful for who I am and who I have become, without any fanfare.. Made goulash for whenever, froze the never ending gumbo, and piddling around with things in general.😁

Up since 5 am but just now moving around, and am checking out my morning news, markets and etc.
Laundry a must today. Just usual stuff on Saturday, Get ready for this next week.Wed, is pre op on the left eye before surgery on the 19th. Thursday hubby has all bottom teeth pulled. Hoping dentist can help him by a-lining the top ones.
Not sure about the rest of today yet.

Power has been on and off several times today, and it is raining hard and strong wind, but no thunderstorms. Bobby made coffee as fast as he could just in case the power went out again, and I have the laundry washing to hav it done. But it looks like everything should be mostly past us by noon or so.
Definitely and inside day, and even the cats are all staying inside most of the time. I think it might be a knitting day today…..

I'm just puttering around today. It's a beautiful day outside so I couldn't resist pulling a few weeds and cleaning out the birdbath.

I've got a large grocery order this afternoon and I ordered a rotisserie chicken and a bagged salad, so at least dinner will be easy. I'll roast a few new potatoes and ta-da.

I took a friend to an eye appointment yesterday. It was follow-up to her second cataract surgery. She bought me a couple dozen fresh eggs and a Chinese buffet lunch. It makes for a long day. 1/2 hour to her place, an hour drive to the doctor, nearly an hour at the doctor, and then back again after lunch. Country living.

Today I continue to procrastinate on cleaning my wood stove flu and getting firewood loaded. I usually have this done in the Spring. Dunno what the heck my problem is. I've never been this unmotivated.

I think it is called getting older. There is a lot of that unmotivation thing going around here at our house too. I think we have begun to have "I don't care" syndrome. We sit around waaaay to much anymore.

Yeh, part of it is certainly inertia...I have been An Object At Rest for too long. It's makes me angry because my physical health is good, and I'm wasting it.

I burn wood wood as my primary heat source because this old house has no insulation. I have enough to get me started, but I really need to get the racks loaded. And I gotta clean the flu. The thing burns clean, but it's been 2-3 years since I've run a brush through it. It's a pain in the butt because the design of soapstone stoves requires you to pull the flu at the stove and put a bag on the end because the stuff you brush out does not go into the firebox...it will block the airflow.

I texted one of my firewood guys to schedule a delivery, knowing that having to get ready for it would get me off of my butt (procrastination is cured when one has one's back to the wall.) He texted back that he had a stroke and was no longer in business.

House is clean, coffee maker set.sofalion refuses to eat wet food. Her man is not serving as he is on a play date.
Nails done. Silver polished. I had a connection of 70s very long turquoise dangles repaired. Guess what. Apparently it was a$75 polish job. If SO cannot fix it plan B. But I love my comfort earring which come to the shoulder and have teething marks of a few kittens. Bathroom looks like we have teenagers:)

Except for feeding the horses and unloading the horse feed I bought yesterday, I have not lifted a finger.

We do have a check-in on the horse forum for the folks in the path of Isaias. One gal got on her most trusted horse and pushed through a mile or so of downed trees on her road to check on her elderly neighbor - who was fine.

She posted a lot of pictures —- the destruction makes me ill😢😢. She posted one very old and very big tree that was pulled straight up out of the ground; all of its roots were exposed. It was like me pulling an entire tomato plant up🤯🤯

I had no idea it was that bad. When it first started forming in the gulf, people were saying that--unlike one that forms over the Atlantic--the gulf was neither warm enough nor big enough for the storm to gain strength. I think it was a Cat 2 hurricane when it made landfall.

It had been barely to a CAT 3 right before it made landfall. It was a conundrum of a storm. The dirty side was on the west side, which that never happens. My understanding is that there was nothing on the east side - it was sort of like an upside down semi colon. There are fotos of that too, but it’s too much rigamorole to put pictures on this forum. I’m sure they are on the Weather Channel’s page or some weather forum.

I had a lump in my throat looking at her pictures. Their generator quit but they were able to get it running again. Their spring house got destroyed so no water; hopefully the livestock have enough until the well is operational again. She posted a short GoPro video of herself and her best trail horse negotiating downed trees to check on her elderly neighbor, who was ok. That horse never hesitated, just kept forging ahead as I would expect from a well trained and seasoned trail horse🥰

I went to the outskirts of the state capitol for a urology appointment...the nurse did a monthly cath swap. I always shop when I'm out that way. I had no idea today is Columbus Day. People were off work, and the grocery stores were really crowded.

I went to Kroger and they had chuck roast on sale for $8.99#, so I figured I'd make a Mississippi Pot Roast. I also bought the pepperoncini. I got to the register and the roast rang up at $13/#. Apparently they put the sign by the wrong stuff, or I got confused. The line was way too long for me to mess with going to the back of the store and getting the right roast so I decided to not buy it.

ALDI was next on my list, and since I had bought the pepperoncini, I checked out their meat counter. I got a chuck roast for $7/#. So there's a Mississippi Pot Roast in my immediate future.
