Shopping--What did you buy?

If you're as picky about coffee as I am & you usually make coffee for one - two people, I found something inexpensive that makes great coffee though it's a manual hands-on thing: The reason the coffee is so good is it soaks in the water for 3-4 minutes & doesn't go into the cup until you place it on the cup. That allows time for complete flavor extraction.

Very interesting, Mr John! I'll have to investigate the "Clever Dripper". :coffee:

When I see photos of homes 🏠 posted by other members in different countries , I wonder why you don't have an attached carport / garage …or add one for the protection of your car 🚗

Question prompted by the photo of the pop.up type car protection carport photo posted by @John Brunner

All new homes are built with a carport or garage now days , most old homes will have afterthought attached lean to’s/ carport

We as many 100’s of homes do , have a large back verandah attached right across the back of our home ….its 4 mtrs out from the house x 14 mtrs long …it not only gives us shelter from the summer sun ,but also protects the back section of the house ….stops heat on the house itself

Then we have a peaked roof verandah 5x 6 mtrs attached to the back of the 2 car garage ..and the outta section of the family room

Just a curious question ….

Almost all homes in my area have garages, Kate. We have a 2-car garage attached to the house and our house was built in 1994. It seems that we and our next door neighbor are the only people on the block who use the garages for vehicles, though.

I got a great car battery charger that also analyzes the battery to determine its condition. Previously, I'd replace the battery when it was four years old, since a car battery's life expectancy is 2-4 years. But by charging every few months after the battery is four years old, its life can be extended for much longer. I have recharged mine twice. I got the car new in 2021 & the charger showed 40% capacity & it's now 95% after a couple hours on the charger. As for cost, the charger cost $130.00 - half the cost of a new battery.

I have a Conditioner on my car and my truck, which is a little different than a charger (although the "Repair" function on yours might serve as a Conditioner):

It stays mounted under the hood, attached to the battery terminals (although you can get one with clamps rather than o-rings.) But you have to keep an extension cord run to them. I got the first one for my truck because it's only driven once a month, then added one to my car.

As you said, they greatly extend the life of the battery. I read an article stating that 80%+ of "dead" batteries that get replaced are still perfectly serviceable. I still have the factory battery from my 2019 Mazda.
