Opossums are immune to Rabies. Scientists believe it is due to their lower body temperature that doesn't allow the virus to replicate. They are also the only living thing that is immune to snake venom; unknown why.
Giraffes have the highest normal blood pressure of any mammal - as high as 300/200, necessary to get blood up that long neck to their brain.
And to prevent damage, their organs are pressurized, their heart's valves & ventricles are heavy duty & their arteries are much thicker. And their legs have skin that acts as built-in support stockings to avoid swelling.

Yes, and the key is the amount. Much like Black Widow venom, which is 15 times more toxic than a Rattlesnake's.

Some of y'all are laughing about crows and ravens having a 5 year memory and holding grudges. While I would like to claim credit for being a comedian, it is a true fact. I was in my 6th year of calling them pretty birds, before they forgot about my calling them ugly names and attacking them with high pressure water.
When one of my former neighbors, a retired wildlife biologist, enlightened me with documented evidence that they indeed had memories and sometimes passed on grudges to their young, I changed my behavior. I still have crows but they don't continually caw and flock in by the dozens.
When H1N1 hit our crow population, I had 3 birds come to my yard to die. I took them out water in a shallow bowl and they appreciated that. The diseased were dead by the next day, but the healthy onlookers saw that act of kindness, and are now very respectful when visiting my yard. I haven't seen crow poop in years, although neighbors that still battle with them, complain about crow poop on their sidewalks and patios, daily.
One big raven out getting a drink in the fountain I set up for them, as I type. I call him Black Beauty to his face.

The brain only runs on glucose (sugar). That's why low blood sugar is so dangerous - you can't function, you can become unconscious & it's eventually fatal.

Snakes can predict earthquakes due to their ability to feel the earth's vibrations long before an earthquake. (I experienced this when I had a pet Boa Constrictor at the time of the 1971 quake in Sylmar, CA. He was moving around restlessly all night before the quake.)
