Opossums are immune to Rabies. Scientists believe it is due to their lower body temperature that doesn't allow the virus to replicate. They are also the only living thing that is immune to snake venom; unknown why.

Giraffes have the highest normal blood pressure of any mammal - as high as 300/200, necessary to get blood up that long neck to their brain.
And to prevent damage, their organs are pressurized, their heart's valves & ventricles are heavy duty & their arteries are much thicker. And their legs have skin that acts as built-in support stockings to avoid swelling.

Ants have no lungs & never sleep.

Honey bees have a highly developed sense of smell, which helps them locate flowers and communicate with each other.

Honey Bees Can Recognize Human Faces
Studies have shown that honey bees can recognize and remember human faces using their advanced pattern recognition skills. A study was conducted where a person visited a hive day after day and gave them a reward. Then, two people visited the hive and the bees went over to the person who had been giving them the reward with their proboscis's sticking out, ready for their treat!

Bees See Motion Faster: Bees don’t have eyeballs, they have two large compound eyes on the sides of their heads and three smaller simple eyes on top to detect light and movement. They see the world five times faster than humans. They detect movements using the 4,000 to 7,000 facets located in their compound eyes. As a result, they can see movements that happen at 1/300th of a second. Humans see at 1/50th of a second.

The Venom of a Bee Is as Toxic as the Venom of a Cobra.

Yes, and the key is the amount. Much like Black Widow venom, which is 15 times more toxic than a Rattlesnake's.

Some of y'all are laughing about crows and ravens having a 5 year memory and holding grudges. While I would like to claim credit for being a comedian, it is a true fact. I was in my 6th year of calling them pretty birds, before they forgot about my calling them ugly names and attacking them with high pressure water.

When one of my former neighbors, a retired wildlife biologist, enlightened me with documented evidence that they indeed had memories and sometimes passed on grudges to their young, I changed my behavior. I still have crows but they don't continually caw and flock in by the dozens.

When SARS hit our crow population, I had 3 birds come to my yard to die. I took them out water in a shallow bowl and they appreciated that. The diseased were dead by the next day, but the healthy onlookers saw that act of kindness, and are now very respectful when visiting my yard. I haven't seen crow poop in years, although neighbors that still battle with them, complain about crow poop on their sidewalks and patios, daily.

One big raven out getting a drink in the fountain I set up for them, as I type. I call him Black Beauty to his face. :sneaky:
