How's the Weather Where You Are?

Good afternoon to all-
Well here on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico, it's a wonderful day- hot, but clear, a light breeze and a bit lower humidity. and that worries me, it does.

You see, down here in hurricane country, the very best weather days come right before a tropical storm comes ashore. it's true. Hurricanes and tropical storms have wonderful weather- right before they hit. The weather is not so very nice when they come ashore.

And wouldn't you know it,. we've a little home-grown tropical storm in the gulf and it looks like it just might come in here in the Alabama/Mississippi area.

So I got a new chain for the chainsaw and if the projections are firmed up to hit us, I'll go tank up all of the vehicles, get some water- if there's any left in the stores, get some gas for the generator, and then we'll hunker down and see what happens.

We won't evac- I've done that before, and it is not fun.

The dogs don’t even want to go outside. It is so humid.

@Ed Delabama yes that is probably where the phrase “the calm before the storm”, came from. It takes a lot more grit than what I have to live as close as you do to the coastal Waters.

Wind storms and ice storms are the biggest issues where I live. My theory is to always go get the supplies ahead of time and then you won’t need them

You’re a bigger man than me McGee.😇😇. There is no way I would be out there washing a car, or washing anything for that matter. I get to the barn early enough to make sure the horses have clean water in their tubs. Then I checked them again in the evening. As I said in this post above, my dogs don’t even want to go outside and they are usually scratching at the door to go outside and investigate their yard.

Keep guzzling water and if you have a portable fan, sit in front of it.😇😇
 
51 F. and raining hard. We just got back from checking the gardens and greenhouses, and we have water coming up from the floor in the big greenhouse and standing water on the tractor road. We don't see that except during Break Up when the ice is melting and the ground is still frozen. I guess thee water table is now near the surface. We aren't really in danger of general flooding, but this is sure the worst summer we have seen since moving in from bush Alaska 34 years ago. Summers there were always iffy, rainy , stormy and whatever. We got 2.5 inches of rain since yesterday, which is a lot for this location. Winter is predicted to be warmer and wetter. I have no idea what that means.

I started a fire in the big greenhouse woodstove, but the humidity in there was so high that even the dry wood didn't burn real well.
 
I fed the horses at 6:45 PM.

1. The car stays in the garage — things are bad when I have to roll the window down, this time of day, to help it cool down faster .

2. The barrel fans in the barn were barely starting to push cool air.

3. The outside water tubs would have burned a baby. They got emptied and refilled.

4. The dogs lasted ten minutes outside. That means they will wake me up around 2AM.

5. Tomorrow, Tuesday, is supposed to be worse. I was wrong earlier on storm timing. They are saying Tuesday night/early Wednesday and then comes the big cool down; in the 80’s but low humidity.

6. I am not doing a very good job of not whining about the weather 🫣🫣

Sounds like what drowned out my first crop of beans, @Don Alaska.
Temperatures are still summerlike, not blistering like before. Still no rain although we had a couple of near misses. and storms are predicted.
