This was a modern history study at some point in my school days. I thought I knew what the original reason was for daylight savings time so I went digging. I found this:
“
Daylight Saving Time (DST) was primarily created to conserve fuel and energy during times of crisis.—-“
Part of this did not copy over, but it was to conserve fuel during the war effort in 1918.
Daylight saving, which began as a wartime energy‑saving measure, starts on Sunday, March 8, and ends on Sunday, November 7, 2026.

My parents had a small dairy operation. Dad also worked as a master machinist 35 miles away to actually pay the bills because the dairying on our small scale was not that productive.
Dad absolutely hated flipping times back-and-forth because it meant him adjusting almost double to the time changes because he had a job where he punched the time clock 35 miles away, but there were cattle who needed milked on time.
Anyone who knows dairy cattle knows you’ve got to be there when the bags are full and need emptied or you’ve got health problems plus loss of income. It is not like raising beef cattle where you just throw them out in the pasture, put a tag in their ear, give them vaccinations and be done with it. For that reason, dad hated the time changes.

I think I have commented previously that I am sick to death of the time changes and I don’t care which way they go just find one and stick to it.
Either way, Not everybody is going to be happy, but nobody is happy about everything in this country anyway so BFD to those who don’t get their way — “ there are bigger fish to fry then time change”, as my mom used to say.
If one is already retired, what the heck difference does it make anyway —- make the adjustments and stop whining.
