House Passes Bill to Make Daylight Savings Time Permanent

When we drive to Georgia, my phone automatically changes when we cross the time zone border in Florida. It is a setting that can be turned on/off in the phone settings.
Do you know how a watch might change if it's not tethered to a phone? Enabling the e-SIM is an option. And I don't believe they do satellite.

I decided to google for the answer and found this. The option still has to be turned on in Watch settings.

"Yes, your Apple Watch changes timezones automatically as long as the Set Automatically feature is turned on. If connected to your phone, it syncs from the iPhone. If disconnected (or if you have a cellular model), it relies on its built-in GPS or known Wi-Fi networks to detect your new location and update accordingly."

Thanks for that. I forgot about the GPS functionality. The watch has a built-in GPS receiver. I believe you need to have Location Services enabled.

It will be confusing if some states are on DST and some on Standard Time, but at least we won’t be switching back and forth twice each year, and states can decide themselves which time they want to be on.
I started in Procurement in the pre-internet days of the 70s. Back then, a bunch of different time standards would have been confusing as I placed phone orders or got verbal quotes. These days with so much being done electronically I can't imagine it will impact commerce all that much. The folks who would be most at risk are those who fly a lot. Arrival/Departure times could be confusing.
