What's for supper?

I found a top round roast on the clearance section of the meat aisle at Kroger today, almost half price, so i got that and cut it into quarters so we can have 4 small roasts with it, and put 3 of them in the freezer for more meals.
I added some hamburger to give it a little fat flavor, and am making a pot roast for us for dinner today.

When I go grocery shopping, I usually troll the meat department looking for marked down stickers. I've bought cheap 5# paks of burger and grilled it all into burgers to vacuum seal/freeze. Lots of cheap meals out of it.

It's hamburger and chicken for us, I don't even look at the roast anymore, they are too expensive.
Also went from salmon patties to tuna patties.

I'm kicking myself in the butt because prime rib gets marked down to a very reasonable price after the holidays and I missed it. You can cut some really nice steaks out of it. And I'm at the point where I'm not all that active, so a serving size under 4 ounces is plenty for me if I load up the sides. And for some reason my hankerings have been more for fish & chicken than for beef.

The direction that ground beef prices are gonna go (since the herds were culled a couple of years ago and it takes a while to build the numbers back back) might drive me to buying chuck roast and grinding it myself. I've done it a few times, and the flavor difference between doing that and buying factory-ground is huge. But I rarely buy beef unless it's expiry date-discounted.

John, I don't care much for red meat either, mostly fish and chicken now and then.

I am making macaroni with peppers, onions, mushrooms, and hamburger in tomato sauce. I have been wishing for a pizza, and this is as close as i can get without actually having a real-life pizza.
I trimmied some of my aerogarden oregano and thyme and added that to the pasta for dinner. Those fresh herbs have such awesome flavor and smell great !
