What's for supper?

Somehow I seem to make a pudding that is very simple and easy..
I just take a package of the instant pudding, make it with cream instead of milk, and add some extras and enjoy..
I usually put the pudding into individual bowls so we can add extra cream or maple syrup..
Yeh, when it comes to cooking, I try to make "from scratch" when prepackaged/instant might suffice...even though it complicates things. If at first I don't succeed, I'll do it again until I get it right. Then I may rarely make that dish again.

I actually went to buy a mix and did not find a flavor I liked...and I've never made a pudding, so I figured this was my chance to learn. Anything but butterscotch likely would have come out fine the first time...but for me, the more complicate the dish, the more I enjoy making it. I once made a Baked Alaska with homemade ice cream. It was good, and it took a few attempts to get the meringue to set...and I won't do that again. But I have the experience of making it.

We decided to use a gift card from our stack; today we're having seafood from a local restaurant. I chose fried oysters and a cup of crawfish gumbo; DH is having fried shrimp and scallops. He's picking up our food since this particular place is always swamped on the weekends and has a long wait time to be seated.

Shameful to admit, but cooking an egg was just too much after my walk to get a hair trim and sign for my prepared taxes. All went well, but it all totaled 7 miles, so standing watching an egg fry, just seemed to much. I just buttered a piece of toast and ate while sipping buttermilk.

Yup! Men are only good for three things: Parallel parking, Picking up the food and.....I forget the last one. ;)

I haven't had a good supper meal since Lon Tanner died. Even though it was a digital dinner, his photos were so good that I could taste the food. I'm sure the wine was from a gallon jug of discount California blend, but digitally it taste like fine French or Oregon wine. :sneaky::LOL::cool:

Who is going to step up and fill his shoes? :ROFLMAO:

Tonite it is fried chicken livers and onions. My daughter just said yuck! and left but we actually like them and I make pate with the leftovers.

That's interesting. I didn't feel like cooking, so I went to the local diner and had fried chicken livers w/gravy and onions, mashed potatoes and green beans. It hit the spot.

They were out of unsweet tea so I had my first Coke in easily 10 years...I don't drink sodas, but didn't want a glass of local tap water. I probably drank 1/3 of it.

I miss crossing swords with Lon. He was an able adversary. :D

I made a stew in the slow cooker..... There will be enough for another meal for us.. It was soooo good that we both overate.. I bought cubed stewing meat, added onion, carrot, broccoli stem, mushrooms, mini potatoes, and peas..... Added stock with herbs and spices... cooked on low for 6 hours..
After that meal, there was no room for dessert..
Pot of tea was very welcomed...

A ham will go on the smoker. I baked bread yesterday. So vegetable potatoe soup, hefty ham sandwiches.

Filling for pot stickers is chilling. When frozen they steam in about five minutes and make good nibbles to go with wine or a nice add on to stir fries.

Exactly! what I did a couple of days ago. Fried up a mess o' chicken livers (a true Southernism), ate some and made chopped liver with the rest.

I won't aspire to call it "pate" because what I make would put a French chef in his grave to see it. I'll just call it what it is in my case, something my Southern grandma would approve of.

I'm thinking we'll have Cobb salad or some reasonable facsimile. I have a bunch of salad fixins and some grilled chicken so we'll see what happens. I might whip up a foccacia bread to have with it.
A cobb salad sounds perfect and healthy, but that would require me donning my dentures. Donning them is no biggie, but removing them and all the glue is an ugly business, that leads to not donning them and making bad supper choices. Y'all oldies with good teeth, should remember to thank the good lord before chowing down. My loss was from a hereditary situation and not due to negligence.

I get tired of explaining why I am shopping the baby food section, when it is known that I have no great grand babies. :(

IDK. I put the leftover livers and onions in the blender with maybe an extra strip of crisp bacon, a hard boiled egg or two depending on the amount of livers, some mayo (NOT MIracle Whip!). I can spread it on anything or eat it with a spoon if no one is looking. ;)

An immersion blender might be useful. Make that a cordless rechargeable one please.
