What Are You Doing Today?

I went to my dermatologist appointment this morning. All is well with my skin, except I still had a little precancerous spot on my face that didn’t quite go away from my last year’s visit. Last year, she froze the spot and it blistered and scabbed. But, there is still a little spot left that looks like dry skin even though I slater my skin with lotion every day. She said she could either freeze it again, or give me a tube of cream to apply to the spot for 2-4 weeks; then come back to see her in Dec. to see if it has gone away. I chose the cream thinking that would be better. It’s just cream after all, I thought. She gave me Fluorouracil. I found out it is also called chemo lotion. I don’t know why I have to google every medicine I get! :rolleyes:It scares the crap out of me, and I scare easy! The spot will become red, raw, burning, etc., and then scab. It will take 2 months after the treatment for it to maybe look better.

I have a divot in one nostril from MOHS surgery I had some time ago. At the time, the guy offered to take a graft from somewhere and patch it. But who knows what that would look like? I told him to leave it be.

Sometimes the cure is worse than the disease. (And I'm always on WEBMD or Drugs.com checking stuff out.)

I went out and did more work on the overgrowth around my house. I only did a couple of hours this time. Tomorrow I'll get out before it heats up and finish it. There was a forecast for significant rain tomorrow afternoon/night but not is looks like nothing is gonna happen.

I picked up some industrial-strength herbicide from Tractor Supply I'm gonna apply at the firewood racks while they're empty to see if I can stop the annual weed fest from coming back. I may wait until there's 0% chance of rain.

My husband has had a few tubes of that stuff over the years. It can be brutal.

Please Google Amlactin. I have been very happy with it for extremely dry skin.

RM443 Link to Tractor Supply RM443 webpage

It came highly recommended by a lot of people on another forum. It is supposed to kill everything. The Tractor Supply store has residential herbicides and insecticides like RoundUp and Spectracide in one section, and the "I really mean it" agricultural-strength stuff by the tractor parts. I had to hunt for it.

:poop::eek:

Did it work? I have a spot smaller than a dime on my cheek. As soon as I read the about it, I am have been considering calling her back to see if she will try to freeze it again first, instead of using the cream. I have read where some have to take pain meds because it hurts. I have over googled it, as usual.

Yes, it works great. With a small spot it shouldn't be a big deal, Krys. My husband had a pretty big area on his forehead near his hairline, on top of one ear, and spots on his forearm. He said it looks worse than it feels, but it heals pretty fast.

When he went to his dermatologist last time, he asked for a new Rx for the cream but his doctor said he'd rather freeze the new spots this time. My husband liked having the stuff so he could treat a suspicious area without going back to the doctor.

Thanks, Beth. I over think things most of the time. 😬

What am I doing today? I am not going to whine so much about all my little health bumps in the road that I have been having of late. I am a little embarrassed by my complaining. I am a worrier and I react before I think. Sorry. Onward! ☺️
I like that we share our bumps in the road. Makes us feel a bit closer or normal.
This morniing going to Oshkosh to meet up with semi yearly brunch group which is dwindling from age. Not me, of course. But people we have worked with or for over the years.

My father and 2 of my brothers died from cancer in their 50s. When I turned 60, I said "Yes" to any test or diagnostic imaging my GP would approve because I had no idea what ailments might befall men of my genetic background at that age. When I turned 70, I began resisting such tests because I don't want to go looking for trouble.

At some point we say "It's just the house settling" and go back to sleep.

It seems to be another nice day again today. We had a downpour of rain yesterday, so God has watered all the trees and garden for us, but the air is cool and fresh this morning.
I have started the fall thing of going through my closet and changing over to more fall/winter clothes and putting away some of the summer ones , and putting together what i don’t want , to take to the thrift store.

I may take the day off from the yard work I've been doing. Humidity is already at 85% and is expected to quell tomorrow and Saturday.

Regarding the yard work: Yesterday there were a couple of wasps around me, and I looked up and saw their nest built on the floodlights at the back corner of the eaves. I sprayed the nest yesterday evening and while doing so noticed that the motion sensing panel on the floodlight fixture was shattered (I have no idea how that happened.)

This is a light that I never use. It only gets turned on by accident when I hit the wrong switch in the laundry room, and even then it only lights after dark. At some point I accidentally discovered that it no longer worked, and because neither bulb lit when I hit the wrong switch I figured it was an electrical issue, so I put it at the bottom of my To Do list. It looks like I just need to swap out the fixture. Thanks, wasps! (Sorry for how I repaid you.)
