What Are You Doing Today?

Gym this morning at 6:30am. 60 minutes, 4k.

Then to Labcorp for bloodwork for the heart doctor appointment next week.

After that, to ShopRite to meal prep for this upcoming night shift.

Got home, loaded the Missus' van loaded with stuff for the Senior Center drop off tomorrow.

Finally, painted a couple of spots on the living room wall that needed touching up.

It's now just after 11am and I'm pooped. Contemplating a nap.

It is a beautiful day here, and I have been outside working in the yard and garden, on and off, with breaks in between today. I am pruning the azaleas back becasue they have gotten really scruffy and even when blooming, they don’t look very pretty anymore. They are on the die of the house where our bedroom is at, and I am going to plant some Rose of Sharon behind the Azaleas, and they can grow up in front of the bedroom window, and will have pretty pink blooms after the azaleas are done in the spring.

The neighbor has pine trees just over the fence, so we get pine needles all over everything in that part of the yard, so part of what i am doing is also raking the old pine needles out from under the azaleas and in that area.
Then , I can take my new cultivator and make the dirt ready to plant the Rose of Sharon, and maybe some other flowers in front, like iris and lilies that come back each year.

We have a Rose of Sharon aka Confederate Rose I think they are the same, Ours is about 20 years old but the draught and dogs have taken away from it.

Up most of the night, so at 5am went to grocery, got there at 6 sat in parking lot till 7am, when they opened. Gabapentin,Tylenol at 4am.
It was past time for grocery's, we were out of almost everything.
Nice to have buggy in store to ride around in.
Will call med doc today ask for real pain med, can't take this continous pain night and everyday. I messes with head and body. I even thought of buying it off street pushers.

Have you thought about getting some medicinal marijuana, Marie? Is it legal in Florida? If it is not legal, ask your doctor for a prescription for it. I "think" you can get medicinal marijuana that away, but I’m not sure. Lots of people have luck using Cannabis lotion; or you can get some to smoke too. Just a thought. Please don't use street drugs.

Be sure to use the drugs the doctor has given you and take them as often as the directions says; not just when you feel like it. It does take time for these drugs to get in your system to work. You can't stop them because you think they are not helping. Just my dollar’s worth. (Inflation) ;)

Thank you Krystal for the help. I was kinda joking about street drugs, imagine being in jail on top of this for buying illegal narcotics.
Most of my friend's and family smoked pot in the 60s,70s.I never did like the way it made me feel. Although it may be a good idea to try it, I never thought about but as you say it is legal here.

I haven't been feeling great for the past several days, so I'm going to try to make a few changes in my diet and exercise. I think my poor food choices lately (too many sweets, etc.) is increasing inflammation and making arthritis, gout, and lymphedema worse. I'm tired of things hurting. So today I'm cutting back on "bad" carbs and starting using my mini-trampoline again. I also need to drink more water.

@Yvonne Smith -- I looked at the Starch Solution plan but that seems too restrictive for me. Is that the one you called the Potato Diet a while ago or was that something else?

The weather is gloomy, humid, and windy so it's no fun being outside. I checked on my cucumber vines and did a walk-around to look at stuff but came back inside fairly quickly.

Our lawn service hires several newbies gearing up for summer, and the guy mowing today did a poor job. He left a lot of "tufts" sticking up everywhere for the 2nd week in a row, so today I mentioned to the boss that I am not happy. They have been our lawn guys for well over 10 years so the boss apologized and offered to re-mow the yard. I told him that wasn't necessary but I expect it to be done to their old standards next week. I really hate any sort of confrontation so hopefully it will look better next time.

Street drugs aren't safe @Marie Mallory. If you get something laced with fentanyl, you might be ending your pain, and everything else, forever,

Beth we are in a 3 yr draught, almost 4yr now. Worse Florida hs ever been in.
It is not good either way, huh?
Hope you get to feeling better and the diet working .

The Starch Solution is restrictive, @Beth Gallagher, and is probably not for everyone, unless you are determined to do it. It is hard to decide what to do with food nowadays..

There are the carnivore people who live on meat and eggs and say they have never been healthier, and at the other end, you have the vegan people like Dr. McDougall, who is totally against any kind of animal food, and also against fats for the most part.

Low carb used to work for me, but now it does not. The potato diet (Spud Fit) is totally restrictive, but I did it and lost weight and felt good. It is nothing except potatoes.

The starch solution is pretty much any kind of starches, veggies, and fruits, and no processed foods. I would rather do that than live on meat, at this point, and just low carb was not working for me.
I just want to feel good, and be able to work in the yard and garden, and fit in my swimming suit this summer. And this is the time of year where salads and fresh fruit happen, so it was an easy decision for me.

Somehow, I don't care for meat or eggs anymore. Although I still eat eggs for protein and a burger now and then. Mostly I eat tuna patties or tuna with crackers. Lots of peanut butter.
Yogurt, ice cream, everyday oatmeal, strawberries, blueberries, cinnamon, turmeric, spices.

@Marie Mallory I am sorry I can’t remember what your issues are that you need the gabapentin? Maybe what I use won’t work for you.

What helps me to reduce the pain enough so that I can actually get four hours sleep at a time is indomethacin. It is an NSAID that requires a prescription. At least if you do get picked up for speeding or something else you won’t go to jail for using a schedule II drug.

I am allowed to take it three times a day, but I don’t. Some days if I have to go somewhere, I won’t take it at all because it relaxes me enough that I want to fall asleep and I don’t fancy doing that while driving into town.🤯

I can run the equipment with it just fine, but I don’t want to be out on the road if I feel like I’m gonna doze off. Anyway, it is not a magic bullet, but maybe it will help you. I wanted to write this down for you before I forgot what I wanted to say.

My brother has been here five days and that kid hit it hard. If I had to pay somebody for everything that he did, I would be bankrupt.

He fixed the muck ups on both my four wheelers that I had sent out to a certified ATV dealer and spent $800 getting them fixed. The dealership didn’t fix them. The only thing that dealership did was get them to where they would start right on the first push of the button, Otherwise they really messed things up. It is too bad that my brother who is a plumber had to be the one to get them running the way they’re supposed to be running.

Plus, he got the Ford 3000 back together, took it out and bushhogged one of the pastures to make sure it was running OK. That was the biggest part of one day.

Plus, he fixed the problems with both of the bathtubs faucets.

Plus he cut up the big limb that broke partway off of one of the trees in the yard in a big storm. He got the chainsaw out and cut it down so that it at least won’t let go on its own, and take a big roll down the side yard that is so steep it would keep going out onto the road.

Plus because my four wheelers haven’t been running since last fall, I have not been able to get up on the ridge to check fence. And guess what! The barbless wire fence that we strung up to keep the horses out of an old dump site, from 40 years ago, came down and was down everywhere so he fixed that. The horses could’ve gone through there anytime they wanted to, but they don’t go up there because the bogeyman lives up there. Right about now, I’m glad the bogeyman does live up there.😱😱

I did some extra cleaning which equals more trash — trash that I asked him to run to the dump. My RE taxes pay for trash as long as I take it there. The dump is a hop-skip away, as the crow flies, so no big deal.

Brother left for home early this morning. Both dogs really like my brother, but the senior dog really loves him to pieces — he whimpered and hugged into my chest for a short time, then moved his 75# self to the foot of the bed😇😇

Brother got his exceptional logic, common sense & deduction from our dad. I’m pretty good, but can’t hold a candle to my brother 😇😇. I

OK, I have to read what everybody else has wrote because I’m way behind on reading.

It is pulled muscles from doing exercise,'aka, squats' the wrong way.
It affects muscle, nerve and ligaments in my knees ,hips at different times and areas.
Sharp pains come on suddenly, have to watch that I don't fall and end up worse.
At times the pain is unbearable it makes me nauseous..I take the only thing that works which is Tylenol.Because I'm so skinny I never take a full dose.

It can take up to a year to heal.
Of course I was joking about the street drugs.
