Telling on ourselves (age-wise) without telling our age!

I was just thinking of converting pants I have now. Remember those where there were pleats or designs in the triangles caused by opening the outer seams in jeans and slacks? Of course, I am much to young to remember those. I must have seen pictures.

When I was babysitting baby siblings, no pay, but mom was always so good about doing something special for me when she had the money, like putting money down on something I had on layaway, or surprising my with a purchase related to something I had been wanting.

As for neighbourhood babysitting, .25¢ an hour at the start, .50¢ an hour (my senior high years). Of course for special times throughout the year such as Christmas and New Years, I remember getting a bonus lots of times, and when/if an evening seen me still at someone's house babysitting after midnight, a .25¢ an hour premium was added to my regular hour pay.

Needless to say, my regular hourly rate of .25¢ and .50¢ an hour remained the same regardless of how many little ones were in my care.

Forget Saturday morning cartoons, The Rocky Bullwinkle Show was on every morning throughout the week and so mom would tune the television to the channel so I could watch before I made my way out the door for kindergarten!

Diapers were cloth and babies wore rubber pants!

My mom used these on me and my baby siblings, and I used them on my kids!

My grad year (I'm not telling :giggle:), I spent the entire summer babysitting for the next door neighbour (Monday to Friday) and the mom used these! 3 kids, all 3 in diapers! Jeffrey (11 months), Darren (27 months), and Mark (late trainer - 43 months)!

Cloth diapers, safety pins, and rubber pants were in vogue! Pampers disposables hadn't gained a foothold yet.
