Pain Relief

Then, by all means, take what you need to take. Don't listen to anyone here if it doesn't meet your needs. We're just people talking.
Yep, I would take enough to keep the pain at bay. Bad enough to be sick with a life-threatening illness, but you shouldn't make yourself miserable by trying to be brave @Marie Mallory. Enjoy life if you can.

Thank you and Don I just don't want to risk the side effects,so I take just enough to control pain.
Mental side effects can be really bad. I freak out and tell Jake get me outta here NOW.It is scary being so far out down dirt roads.
We are fixing the van up so I can stay out long as I want.

I appreciate the info you gave me on the Tylenol, so now I alternate with pain meds. Also I keep busy now which also takes mind off the pain.Plus sitting around makes it worse.

It always seems to surprise me how much better i feel when i remember to take some MSM ! I know it works , but I just forget to take it until I am hurting and then, I remember that I need it.
I put about a half teaspoon in my coffee (or now, iced tea) and soon I am moving better and not hobbling around from body aches. It is actually so beneficial for so many other things that I need to remember to take some every day, even if I don’t have those muscle or joint aches and pains; but I just don’t always think about adding it.
So, now I put it right out on my kitchen counter, and when I am making my iced tea, I can remember to add some in. It is kind of a sour taste and actually goes really well in iced tea.

By most other narcotic standards, Hydrocodone is relatively mild. It takes huge amounts to really do anything other than take and edge off of pain, so, for something very serious in nature, it should not even be a drug of choice. My neighbor who has some sort of hip problem takes 60 mg. of Oxycontin every 3-4 hours a day. Further, they are extended release pills she is ingesting, and they catch up with her occasionally. Then she is stoned out of her skull.

Now, when you live in a facility that is merely assisted living, albeit a health institution, I feel that if one requires this sort of pain relief, that person requires a different place for these problems. Oxy is a very strong drug and has its place. But we are an active facility, not a sub-acute treatment center. Money talks, people.

Hydro worked for me while oxy did nothing, so that is some difference among people. The hydro had to be given more often though. Fentanyl and carfentanil are supposedly the top of the line.
