Moving!

Well, "so far, so good", as the old saying goes. The little girl above us still does some running around, but nothing like she was doing. Either that, or we are tolerating it more (LOL). Since we have got most of thing things done where we had to change our address, in a week or so, we will be getting a Colorado phone number. However, we want to make sure that we have everything done that we needed our Nevada phone number for.

I take Nancy to her first doctor's appointment this afternoon. Same doctor she had when we lived here before. Next month, I go to the local VA Clinic for a hearing exam. I'll either have my existing "VA given" hearing aids cleaned or get a new pair. In August, I have an appointment with my VA doctor that I also had when we lived here before. I'm also supposed to get my 5th Lupron Hormone Injection in August.

BTW, my birthday, last Saturday (June 13th) was nice. Nice breakfast out, done a few "needed" things, and that night, went to local restaurant/nightclub to celebrate my birthday. Yes, fully dressed up in western attire and we looked good.........actually, GREAT!! The band that played was good. The young lady that was the singer, performed much like Miranda Lambert and we told her that. She is 19 and her mom and dad were with her. She sang a couple of Dolly Pardon songs and was very good at that.

So, for now, things are going good. Also, currently, Henderson and the Vegas Valley are seeing high temps of 110 and for us (Loveland), 94 yesterday. My wife has a 3-day weekend coming up. She is off this Friday for Thirteenth Day. We will be getting things out of our boat that we put into it when it was transported here and whatever else we can find to do................and, there are plenty of "whatever" things to do yet.

Cody, VA has gotten generous with hearing aids. You should be eligible for new ones every three years. They will let you keep the old ones as back up. The newer models are Blue Tooth compatible which is nice to have.

I forgot to say that that young lady, with her band, sang Happy Birthday directly to me and most everyone looked at me and applauded. Now, THAT was very nice!

Here it is every 5 years for new ones. Mine never seem to last that long. I was once three years here, but is now 5 years.

This is new. If I understand the general policy it is 4-5 years which can be reduced to 3 if deemed necessary. Will hear what OKC VA says later this week.

First of all, I looked up the apartment complex we live in on the Internet and it states that the complex consists of mainly 20 and 30 year old folks/families. And, that is exactly what we've been seeing.

Another thing, I have never seen so many outdated license plate registration tags anywhere. I've even seen a few "year tag" from 2025. However, we haven't seen any vehicles on the streets/freeway that didn't have a license plate on them, very unlike Henderson was. It's almost like a trend here, for young folks, to color their hair green/blue or whatever. Quite a bit of that here also.

It sure appears that one of the only places we could go to meet anyone that has similar interests to ours would be local Cowboy Church on a Sunday morning. Actually, we have never lived, in either the house we use to have or any apartment complex, where we could meet anyone that had similar interests like ours. But, that's just the way it is.

How is it you two have never met any folks you could relate to at all the rodeos you've attended? Plus, it seems to be easier when you're younger and just looking for similar-minded people to go do stuff with. It gets harder when "doing stuff" is no longer the reason for affiliating and "substance" takes its place.

Yes, John, we've attended a LOT of PRCA rodeos thru the years, but we haven't met anyone that is as serious about rodeo as we are. And, on top of that, we are pretty "choosy" with whom we become friends with. No smokers, no swearing, no body piercings, no multiple tattoos (as in facial/skull/neck or whatever) and no single people. My wife had a close girlfriend, years ago, but her relationship with her went completely downhill when the girlfriend started bad-mouthing ranch and farm folks.

At the risk of it being bitten off, I am going to stick my nose in and say that it still looks to me like you're trying to find country folk in a city, when cities tend to have the kinds of people you rightfully complain about.
Well, believe it or not, Ken, many "country" type folks know nothing about professional rodeo, farming or ranching. A lot of "country" folks were the "city" types that moved out to the country. There are quite a number of those types that live in Colorado, Wyoming and Montana and many locals from all three states complain about them taking over their state.

I'm gonna hate myself for asking, but what was that girl's problem with ranch and farm folks? Are you sure she just didn't say she doesn't like Ranch dressing and you misunderstood? I mean, I don't like French dressing, but I got no problem with Parisians.

That eliminates 90% of the PRCA crowd. You will not talk to me because I wear short skirts and old silver, drink and hang out with the old geezers. Please correct me - a married couple generally starts out as two singles?

Well, Cody not wanting to get to know single folks, your age, that know ranching and rodeo, really creates a problem. Not a lot of old couples left, that were immersed in rodeo, where one hasn't died or is crippled up in a senior living facility. As I have said before, I live in rodeo country where more people know about rodeo than don't. I live close to three major world famous rodeos grounds and over the years have known a lot of hard core rodeo folks and that includes family. Way too many have died, leaving older single rodeo fans. Then there are those that divorced and never remarried.

If in all the PRCA rodeos you have attended thru the years, you haven't found anyone as serious about rodeo as you, then you are sitting in the wrong section or going to the wrong rodeos. Rodeo season is in full swing here and serious participants and fans are galore. You can watch them on the Cowboy channel; Ellensburg, Farm City, and the Pendleton Roundup and see how serious fans are here. Rodeo is serious business here even with the Confederated tribes and Vaqueros.

Ok, we will correct ourselves, "somewhat" that is: Our choice is to meet married couples, somewhat in our age bracket, to be friends with that have "somewhat" of the same interests we do. We wouldn't rule out meeting a single person, but definitely prefer a married couple. When I was involved in PRCA rodeo, none of the guys I knew, or even myself, done it full-time. We all had full-time jobs and done rodeo on weekends.

Any rodeo fans that we have talked to, get very surprised when we tell them that we have pictures of us with World Champions hanging on our walls, from both NFR Autograph Sessions in Vegas to being at the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame Induction Ceremonies in Colorado Springs. When we ask them if they have met/heard of any of the Top 15 Contestants in PRCA and follow them during the year, most have said "no, why?" Most rodeo fans only go to their hometown rodeo, whereas we've gone to numerous PRCA rodeos on the Eastern Slope aka Front Range of Colorado and we remain yearly paid members of the Hall of Fame in Colorado Springs. IOW, folks, we follow PRCA rodeo very, very, VERY closely!

Funny, in a different forum, some years ago, I stated that we won't have anything to do with folks that smoke. We got pretty criticized for saying that, however, one person replied and said, "if they don't want to associate with people who smoke, that's their choice and they shouldn't be criticized for it. I'm the same way."

As far as John's reply about my wife's former girlfriend, her (pretty much) exact words to us were, "as far as I'm concerned, every farmer and rancher should be buried. I have absolutely no use for either." With her saying that, my wife ended the relationship she had with her and I totally agreed with her doing that.

There again, Marie............our choice. And, my question would be to you...........how do you know "that eliminates 90% of the PRCA crowd"?? How much do you know about PRCA?

JMHO but it sounds like that church you mentioned would be the best source to find friends within your criteria. As you narrow your criteria you narrow possibilities.Your choice.
But to have a friend, you have to be a friend so the best way to start accumulating some would be to get involved and help. Volunteer to help at functions, become an usher, start a women's or men's bible study...Put yourself out there.
Other people have their criteria too.
