How's the Weather Where You Are?

It seems like the west is getting some pretty bad storms this month, @Don Alaska !
The whole Seattle area has flooding, roads closed from the floods and mudslides, and they just had a small earthquake east of Sedro Woolley this morning, too.
High winds are predicted there the next few days as well, and I think more rain. It reminds me a lot of what happened to Tennessee and North Carolina after the torrential rains that came with hurricane Helene.

Parts of I-90 are closed near Snoqualamie, parts of Hwy.2 are closed, and I-5 near chehalis was flooded and closed the other day, not sure if it is back open now or not.
But lots of roads washed out all over the state, and into north Idaho and Montana now. It is going to make getting supplies into the PNW pretty difficult if this continues.
My daughter says it is warming and the mountain snows are melting, but that is contrary to what I read. The weather people are saying the rain is going to be moving east and dumping snow as it travels. My brother in Pennsylvania says he has snow banks over 6 feet high in front of his house, and he hasn't seen that since the 1970s. Maybe the so-called global warming is truly over.

Fortunately, they didn't have serious fires in Western Washington recently, or the mudslides would be much worse. Our kids in that area are on high ground, so they are not affected unless they try to go somewhere. They are on stable high ground.

I have been checking with my family out there, too, and so far, all of them seem to be in safe areas. I am concerned about the road and highway closures stopping food and supplies getting into the stores in a timely fashion, and if they have both I-90 and Highway 2 over the pass closed, that is not good.
I think that there was a problem with highway 12 near Yakima being closed as well, so main roads into the Seattle area are not good right now.
Hopefully, people there are either stocked up or can get to a store that is open and has food.

I didn't think it was too cold since it is only about 14 F. at the moment, so I went out to do some out side chores and try to repair minor damage done in the wind storm of late. Most of our solar security cameras are not working since the days are so short and the sun barely gets above the trees. The powered ones are working, but the wind has misdirected them and covered the lens with debris. Part of the roofing on the tractor and equipment she was blowing around, so I thought the roof covering was coming off, but it turned out to be only the flashing so far, so I cut it off and screwed down the remainder. I hope it lasts until spring, as I don't fancy climbing onto an icy shed roof. I should redo the entire thing come warmer weather.

I got the mandatory stuff done, but nowhere hear what I had hoped to do. I told my wife that being out in the cold and wind only for about an hour made me feel like a very old man. I will fill up the tractor tomorrow morning and maybe work on the things I WANT to get accomplished.

Somehow it has turned to being rather mild.. They are forecasting way above freezing for the next few days and to make things worse, some RAIN which could be freezing rain as the ground is definitely frozen..

Below 0 F. overnight, but up to +2 F. now. Wife had holiday flower arranging class scheduled yesterday, but the teacher lives in Palmer I think, and they had winds gusts over 90 mph, so she didn't want to bring her flowers into that wind. It is an annual event through the garden club here, and is usually well-attended. The class was rescheduled for Thursday, but conflicts will keep the wife from attending then, so she will have to pick up her paid-for flowers and "wing it" at home.

The weather here is slowly getting a little warmer. It is 49 here now and supposed to make it to the mid-50’s by this afternoon. The weather app shows 70 on Christmas Day. That remains to be seen…..
I am still checking on PNW weather, and now they have high winds along the Washington coast, and all the way into Oregon, and Idaho, with over a half million people with no power now, and whiteout blizzard conditions on the passes.
Both White Pass and Steven’s Pass are close with no date for reopening, so that only leaves Snoqualamie open and it was having some road areas that were not good, too. If all the passes close, it is going to be hard for the whole Seattle area to get food and fuel trucked in.
I-5 was closed from the flooding near Chehalis, but maybe the water has gone down enough that it is now open again.

Don’t you have a son that lives out around Kent, @Beth Gallagher ? Is he doing okay with the flooding and bad weather ?

My son used to live near Bend but he's in the Portland area now, Yvonne. As far as I know he isn't having any dangerous weather.

We are having a dreary day. It is misting rain and about 68 degrees. Supposed to be warming into the 80's for the next week or so, including Christmas.

CRAZY... Completely crazy weather...
Tomorrow it will be +5c and rain.... If that isn't crazy for this time of the year up here, what is???
Now they are calling for a flash freeze, after where the temperature will drop from +5c to -18c overnight..
Is that crazy or what??????

It was in the 50s and raining yesterday so much of our snow has melted but it's in the low 20s today. Tomorrow, it is supposed to reach a couple of clicks above freezing, but then we'll be below freezing for the next ten days, or at least until they change their mind about it. Wednesday and several days after that, we'll be seeing snow again.

It is 54 here right now, and supposed to make it up to 60 this afternoon, and stay warmer through Christmas. It was showing 70 on Christmas Day, but now showing 69, still good.
I am perfectly fine with no snow….or cold… on Christmas.
One year, it was really cold and bad weather, and we had power outages, and everyone here freezing with no electric heat. Once they got the power lines fixed again, then we, and most of the south, had rolling blackouts for the next few days, because there was so much power usage.
So, warmer is better, in my book.
