How's the Weather Where You Are?

Right now, it is sunny! Temperature is at 12 degrees with10 mph winds; feels like -1. My furnace runs non-stop; day and night almost. I may need to start a Go-Fund-Page to help pay for my electric bill next month.

Yesterday, my door camera alerted me that someone was close to the house. I looked out and what did I see, but 3 people riding horses on the road while it was still snowing in this extreme cold weather and wind. I thought to myself, "those poor horses!" I know horses are tough but it was snowing and the roads were still somewhat snow covered, even after road crews had been out plowing and salting all night and day.

It's very cold and breezy, and we still have lots of snow. 🫤 It has been reported we had gotten approximately 11 inches of snow and 1-2 inches of sleet. It looks to be about 9 inches of snow at my house but I didn't go out and officially measure it. A lot of the schools and businesses are still closed today. No trash pick-up, nor mail.

Our overnight lows aren't gonna break 15°F until next Wednesday night, with some below 10°F nights sprinkled in. This crap is not melting...it's getting harder. At least we've not lost power.
That is kind of the situation here, too. Still really cold overnight, but compared to many places, we are doing great, and we have not even had the power blink here at all, so that is a blessing. Hoping tomorrow it will warm up enough to make our weekly Kroger trip.

Yesterday's news said there were 43,000 homes without power in the state. The current number is 14,000, many in the rural southwest (coldest) part of the state. The biggest complaint I've got is burning through a lot of firewood, but I have more than enough to last.

I woke to 0 F, now we're at 3 degrees with sun.

We've gotten and then lost snow a few times this season. I prepared for the worst with extra snowblower batteries, but I used the snowblower just once when we got a lot of heavy snow. Figures. :ROFLMAO:

Instead I have been leaf-blowing the light snow we've gotten in smaller doses. This does a surprisingly clean job.

The few small nubs of slow are from the footprints of those who insisted on trampling it down before I got to it. Even most of that has now been blown away.
