Getting Old

Remembering-struggling for words seems to becoming harder for me too. It is a little disturbing when that happens. The word always comes to me later on when it is of no use to me anymore. 🫤 No Alzheimer's/dementia in my family that I have ever been aware of. I understand that that is common among older folks though and is just part of aging. Yet, there are some that are sharp as a tack and have no problem finding words.

Sometimes I think it is because we have so much information at our finger tips with the internet that there is only so much our brain can hold on to. I’ll go with that explanation.:D

I will say that at my last Wellness Check, I brain-farted on drawing the clock. I made the hour hand long and the minute hand short...but I caught myself. That one did worry me a bit, but I was in kind of a fog that morning.

Regarding naming the president...I wonder how many people are really disconnected from politics and might not know. These days it seems most of us marinate in the dysfunction.
Drawing a clock might be harder for those who are bombarded by digital appliances. My watchband broke but the watch is analogue.

I could not find my phone the other day. Normally in its stand the hubby made, on kitchen table with laptop, or by my chair.
We both searched and searched. Went to the bedroom , did not see it, but wait I heard the faint noise of hubby ringing my phone. He came in standing by the dresser, opened the drawer and there was my phone, lying on some items I put in the drawer earlier from folding laundry.:(. I did not take this well, and proceeded to curse myself for being so absent minded.
this at least the third time this year I have done something dumb like that.
I can remember long term things, especially number and dates, but short term memory seems off - at times.
Since my brother died last year of dementia/alzheimers, I am paranoid, about getting that !
So, I probably stress too much about it,so hubby says. Still it scares me at times.
@Shirley Martin I can do that little exercise your doctor has you do..just fine! :)

I went crazy over missing a tiny silver necklace. Turned all sorts of things over until SO pointed out that it was on my neck.

Not to worry about losing the phone. I do it all the time and call it from another phone. It is only scary when no ringing answers the call--usually because I left it in the car. One time I could not find my remote. I looked EVERYWHERE, except in the freezer. I had had it in my hand and set it down in the freezer (just for a minute) as I put some food items away. Not dementia, just doing too many things at once.

Thanks Mary,I appreciate that.

I have posted before about leaving a trail of half-full coffee cups all over the house (and outside). I am forever hunting my coffee; it's gotten to be a big joke around here. One time I opened the pantry and there was a cup of coffee sitting in the canned goods. Often I leave them on top of the washer or dryer.

Time for Apple tags? I used to have whistle things on my key chain.

This getting old is definitely not for the weak.. I find many challenges just trying to get along during the day..
My get up and go got up and went... is more like it..
Remember that............ GETTING OLD IS A PRIVILEGE THAT NOT EVERYONE HAS...
I agree.

I've went looking for my glasses and then realized I had them on.
