I'm reading that Apple is gonna go old school with smaller phones and one that folds (but they don't call it flip-phone.) Word is that the price on old models isn't gonna drop because the cost of memory (due to AI and Data Center consumption) is driving up the price of new ones, so the old ones are already "discounted" by comparison.Today is the big fall Apple Event , where they announce all of the new products and updates for Apple , and show you how everything works ! Even though I am not buying anything new, I love watching this and seeing what the new products are, and most of the updated software or apps will work on the older Apple devices as well, so I can always learn new stuff by watching.
This morning, I was watching a short video that explained some great information about using the camera/photos app, and making edits (easily) to your photos .
This should work on photos you already have, and some of them use the new Apple AI editing software. The explanations are easy to understand, and something I am looking forward to trying with my photo editing.
Yes, that is what I just updated to. The new iOS 27 probaby will arrive once the new phones are available. That is how it usually works.I'm reading that Apple is gonna go old school with smaller phones and one that folds (but they don't call it flip-phone.) Regarding that video: He speaks of iOS 27. My phone is prompting me to update to 26.6.2

That's interesting that the folding screen iPhone has more capabilities than the regular phones do. Recall when Apple released the new cheap mini-laptop (I forget its name), they used the iPhone chip as the processor. Maybe some of that functionality is bleeding back the other way.Yes, that is what I just updated to. The new iOS 27 probaby will arrive once the new phones are available. The whole program was about the new phones and Apple Watches, and camera advancements.
As far as prices, @John Brunner , they pretty much look about the same as before, but the new folding phone starts at almost $2,000; so, yeah, it is expensive !
Apple has just released its very first folding iPhone !
When open it is not quite an 8” screen, so almost as large as the iPad Mini screen. It has a lot more capabilities than the regular phones, and opens into one large beautiful screen when you open it, and it can be used either open or closed. The concept is pretty great, but it does not have Face ID, which is important to me.
Since I barely even use my phone, I am not interested in having one of the folding ones, but I do think the concept is awesome and is perfect for anyone who does use their phone a lot.

That's just insane. I wonder how many cycles that screen was tested for. Here is the Apple quick video description of how this new iPhone works. You can use it closed with the smaller screen, or open it and have the large double screen. Or, you can do something different with each side of the double screen……. It is all pretty amazing !
I'm the same way. But God bless the bleeding edge people who keep technology advancing at a rapid pace. Neanderthals like me can jump in at the second-newest generation when the price comes down and still be amazed.I'm still using my iPhone 11; it's supposed to be supported for a couple more years so I guess I'll stick with it.
I thought I had read that those were in short supply. Did you have a hard time locating one?I bought my wife a MacBook Neo for our anniversary, and I think she likes it. The color is teal, and it looks kind of cool.

No, I bought it directly from Apple. Best Buy had them, but only in silver, and I wanted to give her a teal one. To me, the main difference is that the Mac Neo uses macOS, while the iPad uses iPadOS, which is based on iOS.I thought I had read that those were in short supply. So now Amazon is EBay.I wanted to mention that a lot of people are reporting scams on electronics when ordering from Amazon. They are receiving customer returns, empty boxes, and basically just assorted junk that is not what they paid for. Amazon is practically accusing the customer of trying to scam on a return and refusing to refund their money. It's a big mess. So personally I won't be ordering big ticket stuff (especially electronics) from Amazon anymore.
