What's for supper?

Freezer diving again today. Looks like it will be leftover meatloaf. Plus some baked taters and green beans.

I'm getting better at putting leftovers in the freezer and it comes in really handy. Recently I have stashed pulled pork, taco soup, and yesterday's pot roast in the freezer. Yay!

Today we're picking up Mexican from the local joint. Kitchen is CLOSED.

I have some hamburgers in the freezer that I froze from the last time we had them. I'll take those out of the freezer to thaw along with a couple of buns, and reheat them in the microwave for some sandwiches. A side with the sandwiches is yet to be determined. 🥱

I've splurged a couple of times the past few weeks. There's a seafood shop near me, so I bought some fresh haddock and made it for dinner a couple of weeks ago. Tonight I grilled some scallops and served them over a bed of really spicy-hot corn chowder Walmart sells under their Better Goods brand.

It's all very good. Seafood prices are outrageous these days.

I bought some 'cheap' scallops in the freezer section of a local store. They were totally tasteless, literally.

These are dry scallops, meaning very fresh and no preservatives (phosphor.) They're also $36/pound. The haddock was $38/pound. I could have bought a Wagyu steak.

It stinks because when the place opened up pre-COVID, prices were reasonable so I was eating seafood all the time. Not anymore.

We splurged and ordered the 8-piece chicken bucket $10 special from KFC. They do this on Tuesdays, but it has probably been a year or so since we have ordered the special. You have to order it online and then go and pick it up, so we do not do it very often, but we both enjoy it.
Then we had homemade chocolate/banana ice cream with strawberries and a dollop of whip cream, so almost like having a banana split, but made in the Ninja Creami.

That's a good price. Popeye's is close to a few $$$ per piece when you buy a large box of it without sides. The only food I started ordering online is Domino's pizza. There's a small Domino's in my local Walmart and they run good specials, so I can order the pizza and pick up odds & ends as long as I'm there. I can get 4-5 meals out of a $10 pie when it's on sale.
