Since you're doing all the work and setting it up, tell us what would help and make it easier for you?
For one thing explain to us the difference in online picture's of politics' and joke's and private photo's
I haven't had a chance to do so yet, but I don't want to get in a position where we're straining our resources here, and I particularly don't want to do that through photos that were simply lifted from someone else's website. At its root, I think most of us want this to be a discussion forum, so I'd rather see more talk between members than photos and other images, although photos of yourselves, your pets, your homes, things you're working on, or of places that mean something to you, particularly which you have taken yourself, these are part of a discussion forum. I'm just trying to get away from filling our space up with photos of things you've found online, but which have no personal meaning to anyone here.
I haven't set up a place for it yet, but politics can be discussed here. I'm going to try to avoid it because I'm getting so that I see less value in it every day, given that both sides are PsOS, but politics is not banned here, whatever side you might be on. I'd like to avoid fighting about it, however.
As for "private" anything, you should avoid posting anything private in a public forum.
@Ken Anderson -- You mentioned in another thread that you don't want to "fill the forum with pictures" so I'm wondering if you want to limit photo size, videos, etc? I think there is a way for the forum software to automatically resize images but I could be mistaken.
I haven't yet had the chance to examine my options. I know that I can, and will, limit photo sizes, given that full-sized photos will be reduce to fill tthe screen anyhow, while their full size will nevertheless be used as far as the amount of our resources taken up.
Ken is on the road again, plus the holidays now, so he has not really had a lot of time to spend on just setting up things with this new forum yet, and we all “invaded” while he was still working on getting things ready for this to be a forum.
Thank you, Yvonne.
Everyone, please keep in mind that I would normally set the forum up completely before allowing anyone to register for an account. In this case, since I knew that I was going to be away and several of you wanted a place to be, I went ahead and told the installers to install it as open, so those of you who registered on the first day had your accounts before mine. Technically, my SOCAdmin account was here before, but the installers did that, not me. I also wanted to give you all some input on what we set up rather than me just recreating what we had before, or some version of it.
The idea was to give you guys a place to talk while the furniture was being arranged. The downside is that some of you are looking around and seeing all sorts of things that are not in place. Think of it as if you badly needed a roof over your head, and the builders let you move into your house before plumbing was in place, and there were still walls and things that needed to be put up.
It's. not the way I would generally do it, but I didn't want to delay things just because I was busy.
