What Do You Have That Makes Doing Certain Things Easier At Our Age?

Only wearing slip on shoes or flip flop thongs depending on the weather.
Zippers are easier than buttons.
Pull over shirts.
If I was a woman, I would wear one of those cloth tents some women wear, but with nice embroidery around the neckline.

Flip flops? cruising for a bruising?

I might have to try that, specially if it helps with arthritis. Does it feel greasy after you put it on? (I hate that...) Because I take an NSAID pain reliever named Nabumetone for arthritis, my hands and arms bruise easy and get cut easier. It's quite annoying. But the latest one I have never seen another one like it. I was getting ready to sit in my wheelchair and lost my balance. However, I did not fall this time. I caught myself on my wheelchair. I just smacked my left hand on a wall pretty hard with a hard scrape. The bruise started forming in seconds.

At first it was a typical bruise. But within a half hour had taken on the shape of a mushroom, which I thought was rather amusing because I was listening to The Allman Brothers Band, and one of their logo images is a mushroom. The next morning it looked really weird. The top looked about the same purplish red color, but you could clearly see a light blue bruise under that, sticking on one edge, with an almost round blood blister on the top. I could tell if it popped, it would be messy so I put a big bandage on it, just in case. These things usually don't hurt. I get them from a soft scrape that I don't feel sometimes. But this was a hard slam against a wall, and it really hurts.
Jake keeps telling me to slow down, but I get bruised just sitting here reaching for mouse on the snack table I use or anything I else I reach for.

My Dad taught me that if you don't keep moving, you will lose the ability to move. And he was right. When I wake up I can stand up and using my wheelchair to assist in keeping my balance I can walk a good distance. But when I poop out, I need a place to sit. That is where my chair comes in very handy. I can rest for a few minutes, then continue, or I can roll my way home.

But after sitting here noodling around on my computer, even for a short time, I can barely stand up and I'm very unstable. Of course that changes some with an Occipital Nerve Block, which is coming up in three weeks.

My vote is for Arnica gel in a pump bottle. Noted to calm and get rid of bruises in quick time and yes
it does, but I also discovered it helps calm pain too. I'm always knocking meself now and it bloomin hurts.
Now, I immediately use Arnica and the pains gone so quickly. Its good to use 'cos it sinks right in and no
'orrible smell to put up with.
I love homeopathic meds. I use them on the injured wildlife in my care. Arnica is great, critters go from deep purple black and blue to yellow-green in 24 hrs. Great trauma remedy. I don't use gel, I use pellets.

We have decided to buy a pair of Electric Nail Clippers that also has a nail buffer with it. It has a rechargeable battery. We both get very tired of reaching down and clipping our toenails with the old type clippers.

@Cody Fousnough , how do electric nail clippers work? Won't you still have to bend over to reach your nails? I have senior toenail clippers that are a little longer than regular clippers. That helps by making nails easier to reach.
We haven't got them yet, but will. How do they work? They are electric, so a person does have to squeeze the clippers to cut the nail. Simply turn on the clipper and put the "clipper" part over the nail and it starts trimming it. A person still has to bend over, but no manual clipping. The thing can be used on both toenails and fingernails. We are going to pay a little more for a good motor that will take care of thicker toenails.

Funny this comes up, when I was doing just this this morning. Not easy to do.
It is totally not easy to do anymore, for sure ! The main problem I have , beside not being a contortionist anymore that can easily reach my toenails, is that it is hard to see what i am doing with those toenail clippers, and I kept getting my toe in there instead of the toenail, and those clippers do hurt when you clip the end of your toe.

I had a set of toenail grinders that I used for Poodles toenails, so I decided to try those on my toe and see how they worked, and they actually do a great job.
You can’t hurt yourself, it just grinds , and even if you accidentally get the toe instead of the nail, you can feel that (and it does not hurt). It is longer than my toenail clippers, so it makes it easier to reach my toes, too.
The grinder has a light on it even, and I can see what I am doing much better; so over all, this has been a great discovery for me.

Thanks Yvonne, we have some dog clippers too no light, but I'll still try those next time. Who would have thought some many things would get so 'complicated', aong but I won't play it.
I just put lotion on mine after I got most the nails off.

They are much better for clipping your dogs toenails, too, @Shirley Martin .
I was always worried about clipping Poodles nails too short and hurting him, and after I accidentally did that once when he jerked, he was always afraid when I clipped them, too.

I need to trim them more often than what I do.
Now, I take my nail clippers and trim off the very ends of Poodles nails, and the clippers won’t let me clip very much because they do not open very far.
Then, I use the grinder and grind them down to where they are round and smooth. If I did it more often, I would not even need to trim the ends with my toenail clippers.

What I use are grinders, @Marie Mallory , not any kind of clippers. These are more like a Dremel grinder tool, but made for pets. They look similar to this and are rechargeable.

Not that bad, Marie. The one I have was around $10-$15 if I remember right. The one in the picture i posted was $12, and even if you wanted an expensive one, I am pretty sure those would be well under $50 at the most (if even that). Just the cheap ones will do the job just fine.

Probably less than an injury , so I was just kidding with you.

Cellphone Tip... since my eyes have been giving me problems, I have a very hard time reading labels and small print on stuff. I have a few magnifying glasses scattered about the house, but what really works best is taking a quick photo of the label with my phone. Then I can enlarge it as much as needed so that I can read the "fine print." If you haven't tried this, you'll be surprised how handy it is.
