What Do You Have That Makes Doing Certain Things Easier At Our Age?

For us:
iRobot Vacuum and Mop
Hand battery operated Can Opener and Jar Opener
For Christmas we got a Digital Tape Measure that also has red lasers in it to hang pictures with
Last night we bought, online, a small Laser Level to put hang a shelf with
We are now giving it serious thought about getting a Cordless Electric Scissors.

IOW, anything that will help/assist us with doing a job.

We have a robot vacuum also, and it does a good job. It is also the very best cat toy that we have ever had, @Cody Fousnough . I am trying to think what else we have that makes doing things easier, and for me, I think it is having Mr. Bobby to help me do the things I can no longer do do and that he still can.
This is the kittens having great fun with Rhonda the Roomba.

I also have robot vacuums; I bought them when I was having chemo and they were a life saver. This year we bought new pool robots; one "vacuums" the bottom and walls; the other skims the surface. Those things work great and save us a lot of work.

We are also paying professionals to do a lot of odd jobs around the house that we used to do ourselves. We had a toilet replaced a few months ago, a new patio cover added, and some drainage added to our back yard. Also paid a young man to power wash the concrete driveway, sidewalks, and the siding on the house. Those are all things we would have done ourselves when we were younger.

Thing is, when it comes to the iRobot Vacuum, for us, it works much, much better on vinyl/simulated wood flooring than it does on carpet. In our last apartment, the flooring was all vinyl/simulated wood. In the one we are currently in, only the bathrooms and kitchen are vinyl/simulated wood. IOW, all rooms/hallway is shag carpet. Didn't even unpack either the iRobot Vacuum or the Mop to use here. When we bought the iRobot Vacuum, we kept our regular vacuum and that's what I use currently, along with a regular mop. I really, really miss the iRobot cleaning equipment!!

Funny, Yvonne, I seen a YouTube video of a kitten riding on a iRobot Vacuum. It sure looked like it was having fun.

As far as the Cordless Electric Scissors go, our hand strength isn't what it use to be, so that's why we are going to get the Cordless Electric one.

Sort of the same reason we got rid of our regular boat winch on our boat trailer and, bought/had installed, an Electric/Battery Operated Winch on the trailer. I have a hand-remote for that. Simply hook up the winch to the battery on the trailer and use the remote to take the boat off of the trailer and pull the boat back on the trailer when we are getting off of the water. Sort of funny, but we haven't seen anyone with that Electric/Battery Operated Winch on their boat trailer. Then again, most boaters, where we last lived, weren't our age either. Much, much younger.

We have all kinds of doodads to help us. Scissors in each room magnifying glasses here and there. My under the shelf jar opener - I LOVE IT! A grabber, cant name them all. But can not use the rumba vac as the hair is so thick because of dog it cloggs it up. I use a Swifter now instead of a mop or broom. Mark does the heavy vacuuming.
What I need a something to change sheets on the bed!! Mattresses get way to heavy to lift and it takes both of us now to make bed.

My vote is for Arnica gel in a pump bottle. Noted to calm and get rid of bruises in quick time and yes
it does, but I also discovered it helps calm pain too. I'm always knocking meself now and it bloomin hurts.
Now, I immediately use Arnica and the pains gone so quickly. Its good to use 'cos it sinks right in and no
'orrible smell to put up with.

My wife loves arnica for her arthritic hands, and for the occasional bruise as well.

The day we bought a Dyson stick vacuum cleaner was one of our top of the list best buys …for easy / quick cleaning

prior to that we’d have to drag the old barrel type
Wertheim out ( it weighs a ton ) , get an extension lead out, so we could vacuum the tiled and carpet areas that needed doing without changing to another power point …..pull the cord out …., go plug it in ….and reverse all that including lifting it back into a cupboard

.we’ve still got it but it's only used once a month or so to give the carpets a good “ Mow” as hubs calls it cause the power beating head sounds like a lawn mower ( not quite as loud )

Oh and we upgraded our car ,in 2020,….. we had 2 cars mine a Toyota Corolla and a Rodeo we used to tow our caravan , traded them both in on a brand new Nissan Qashqai …. which is a SUV ,it’s higher than the Toyota was , I can open door of our car and just step out of it ,where with my Toyota I was pushing my self up out of it to save hip pain from bursitis , I’d hope to never go back to a standard sedan as it makes it so easy
to get in and out of the SUV and no more hip pain …

Dunno.
I seriously can’t think of having anything that is specifically age related.
Both my PHC doctor and the Podiatrist “assume” that I might have Posterior Tibial Tendonitis (left foot) so I bought a couple of pairs of tie up boots to support my ankle and use a lot of DMSO and Castor oil so maybe those things count if indeed whatever is really wrong is age related.
I did buy a big chart that depicts every nerve, muscle, tendon, flexor, bone and blood vessel including the facia in the human foot. The flip side shows the human hand for later reference material.
With that I have been able to better pin-point the problem and fix the problem myself without any further professional medical help.

Now, there is that battery powered hand-held leaf blower I bought but I didn’t buy it because I’m getting old but more for the novelty of it.
I works great, weighs maybe 1 1/2 pounds, came with 2 batteries and does the job of any bulky leaf blower that I’ve ever had.
Inexpensive too on Amazon.

It’s later in the day when I went…Oh yeah, the red light boot.
I’m not sure if it’s age related either but I bought a two footed boot (kinda) that has about 400-500 red lights inside.
I’ve been walking on my feet for around 75 years so the rationale is that before I kick back in my easy chair, I throw off the socks and stick my feet into the gadget for 30 minutes and let the red lights do whatever it is they’re supposed to do.

Not sure if it’s supposed to make my feet feel any younger but when I turn it on 5 (high) it gets warm and cozy making my sojourn into easy chair nap land a better journey.
