What Are You Doing Today?

A little late to post (from this past Monday/Labor Day), but we were finally able to hook up our boat/trailer to our Durango. Took it to the water hose/sewage disposal area inside the Boat Storage we are at to try and start. It had been a couple of years since we last started it. We hooked up the hose to the Drive Muffs, put on the Drive and ran the water. Fortunately, after a few long pumps of the throttle, to get gas into the carb, it started. We were so, so razed! If it wouldn't start, we have to take it to the Marine Service to see what the problem/problems were. However, since it started, and ran decently, we don't have to do that immediately.

We will be taking it to the Marine Service to be "winterized". Didn't have to "winterize" it in Southern Nevada. Just didn't get that cold and definitely no snow. Colorado is totally different.

Now, when we do decide to sell it, we can list it as "running" and "running great".

I'm going to the garden center today to get some plants, but I'm not sure what kind yet. I have a few vacant spots that needs a plant of some kind, and a few plants that needs to be replaced. Maybe I'll pick up some mums and a couple of pumpkins to set on the porch too. That's the plan for today anyway, but it’s still early. I could change my mind.:D
Have fun. There is always this very special plant that follows you home.

The first day of 50th Western Week. We are hibernating:)
We need to decide what to take out of the garden. It is producing too much. I will play with hot banana peppers, onions and spices. Yesterday’s Tabasco/Nardello sauce turned out perfect. Hot but pleasantly so.
Long call with a friend. She is in dire need of a rental but refuses to adjust her expectations. So I will listen and bead.

No news on scan as of yet. As those of you that have had cancer or currently have cancer know, getting specialist appointments, testing, and then treatment, is slow. It is easy to get impatient, but we have to remember, we are not the only ones with cancer and all those before us have waited.

It seems harder this time, but I am older and crankier. All six of my long time friends that also had cancer or other life threatening issues, are now dead. Back during my first cancer rodeo, 8 years ago, we all kept in touch every morning, thanks to the internet. One by one they died and no more messages came.

Today is lawn mowing day. Woopie! I haven't posted much because I have such an exciting life, that I didn't want to brag and make y'all feel bad about the mundanity of old age. :ROFLMAO:I hate so much sitting and TV watching, but with my vision getting so bad, I can't read much or do any hobbies. I could play music, but that seems such a waste. Playing for myself seems like an exercise in futility.

So you go into town, set a tin can on the ground with a buck in it and play.
lol
Will that get you arrested? You never know.

.So I dropped middle daughter into town. The Farmer's market morphs into Fondue Fest this Saturday. A much bigger deal.
SNIFFFFF....
Someone was giving pony rides like I used to do there.
I miss my ponies.
Anyway, I had invited oldest daughter to come back out from Vermont, not expecting a response. But today I got a text saying she is checking for tickets. She wants to go to our Little Farmer for a caramel apple, etc.

Hugs to you Faye, always harder when so many go before us. Mamawa us to say- I ain't gonna die, I am too mean to die..she lived until she was in late 80's.

Just got my monthly gas/electric bill. Under $100 for the 1st time in a coon's age!

Not by magic or by the grace of da gubmint or power company. No, it was all accomplished by pretty much daily scurrying around to assiduously capture and use solar power and load-shifting off peak billing hours.

I'm not claiming false economy, though my bills have been under half those of previous years. I've invested in the equipment and I put in effort that a working person couldn't. But it keeps me thinking and planning and active every day and the costs still beat out something like an old fart's gym membership.

So no, I'm not an advocate. But I do like the feel of a small win here and there.

Good morning to all-

Went down to the river this morning, it being flat calm and no wind predicted. Lovely morning, water looked good. Good current. Bait slapping the surface. Things looked good. I even saw an eagle fly over low to the water- always a nice thing, it is.

Three hours later I ran back to the ramp , loaded the boat up and came home. Caught a few nasty hard-head catfish and not the first sniff of a redfish or even a speckled trout. And it was getting hot, hot hot.

Best thing about the day- I live only thirty minutes from the river, so i was back home and cooling off in the shower in just a little bit. After nap, went out and cleaned boat, got things in order and put the cover back on. Maybe in a couple of weeks the fish will be biting.

Not such a bad day- I'll take it, I will.

you all be safe and keep well- Ed
