What Are You Doing Today?

Cancer! She doesn't believe it has spread and visit to surgeon to schedule surgery. Specialty surgeon a month away and the doc says that's too long, so waiting for phone call to try and get it moved up. I am not surprised and grateful for the doctors call for a biopsy, which she says no other oncologist would have done based on scans and blood test that all show good. She says it was the best call she has ever made in 30 years.
Wow. This sucks, but I'm sensing not unexpected. I'm glad you have a good team on your side, as we all are here.

I got up this morning, pulled the pecans out of the dehydrator then did a brown sugar/spice coating on the stovetop.

Later I went to a church Homecoming. This is a church I used to attend whose congregation was established in 1780 (this building was erected in 1833.) Francis Asbury, one of the first 2 United Methodist bishops in the states, delivered a sermon to the early congregation. At one point they closed off the side entrance where the slaves entered to take the steps up to the balcony to attend services (slavery ended 30 years after the church was built.) The founder's descendants used to come from out of state to attend homecoming until a few years after I started going. I forget exactly how far back they traced their genealogy. I know it was at least the 1600s, maybe earlier. Lots of history there. I've done some repairs & maintenance, and it's nice to know my fingerprints are on some small part of it.

It was a nice event. The past 5-6 years they have had one of two bands: one band was affiliated with the June Carter-Cash family (who used to live in the county and who has a music center in the southwestern corner of Virginia), and the band that played today who is a gospel group from the next county over (and whose still-strumming-strong banjo player will be 90 years old in a couple of months.)

Not my pic, from their Facebook page:

We went to Garden City 2plus hours away to try and find Sophie a harness and leash. Useless,as I expected. She is still too tiny.
Anyways, got home at 2:30 ate -yuck ham and cheese sammich -only because it was fast to make. No breakfast for him and I had cereal - so we were hungry.
We did find her a tiny little ball and she really loves this thing.
Rest of the day spent doing nothing useful I am sure.

Took my lady friend to her doctor's appointment. Yes, a Sunday appointment. And now I'm having a nightcap glass of Merlot. Well, actually not a glass, but a red Solo cup of Merlot. Desperate times, and all that...
That cracks me up. Sommelier meets redneck. God bless 'Murica.

I'm taking my friend (Linda) to a post-op cataract surgery exam on Wednesday. I took her in for the pre-op exam, someone else took her in for the operation, now I've pulled post-op duty. She already got me a couple of dozen fresh eggs, so this time I'll just get a Chinese buffet meal out of it.

With my morning workout and breakfast behind me, the only thing on my list is going in for blood test. I am enjoying my hot cup of country girl mocha as I ponder whether to add battling the spiders to my non existent list. It is going to be a bad winter, according to the legend of the spider web. I have at least six slow healing spider bites on both upper arms. They build webs across my patio door over night. I should use my de-webbing brush when I first go out, but I forget and bust thru their inner structure, wearing only a sports bra on top.

Sore shoulders from yesterdays lawn mowing. I didn't weed eat due to humidity, something we rarely have here. We have the heat, but usually very dry. By the time the humidity was low, it was too hot to be outside. The heavy morning dews are very unusual for this time of year in these parts. Yesterday was the first day in a long time, I didn't find dog :poop: in my front yard and to my surprise, no opossum :poop: in my back yard. :sneaky:

I am finally getting some of the things today from my last Poshmark shopping spree. Nothing exciting, other than a compression sleeve shrug that also is a bra. It will go nicely with my sports vest and give a bit more warmth for the days ahead. Less bulky than the vest over a sports bra with an under sweater.

Well, that is it for the morning news here at Faye's Boreville US of A.

Unless Sophie (my Gram's name) would be too embarrassed, you could try a cat harness.

Just?

I have some bread proofing and ready for the oven. I haven't been baking much lately because of the heat; I guess I should drag out my bread machine to make bread. I did some dusting and cleaned the bathrooms; now I'm sitting with my feet up.

We were hungry around 11:30 so I made a few biscuits and sausage patties. It's unusual for us to eat breakfast or lunch so we probably won't want any supper till 7 p.m. or so.

I don't know about y'all, but I'm ready for fall. I've had all the summer fun that I want for a while.
