So sorry for the anxiety you must be feeling. Hats off to your tenacious manner. And to your tool box. When I need to pull a battery, I usually have a pliers from the dollar store and, if no butter knife is available, I will dig out a screw driver. Hubby has the tools back in his garage.That is right folks, today was a big S H I T!!!!
I decided to head to the Oncologist early. It was hot so I hit the start button on my car. Click click click. I knew immediately that the battery was shot. No time to monkey around with it so I started walking. 3 miles in the heat wasn't pleasant and even if I could keep up a fast pace, I was going to be late. I called and was told all the receptionist were busy. Leave a message. I did and tried again 3 times while speed walking. I never got a return call. I arrived 15 minutes late, hot and disgusted, and ready to battle if the little twips gave me any reschedule crap.
On arriving and apologizing for being late because my car was DIG, Dead In Garage, they asked when my appointment was. I told them and then they agreed that yes, it was for Friday the 14th. I asked what the problem was and then they said, "Sorry Honey It's Thursday," abbreviated S H I T.
So dragging my old tail home, sweaty, legs disagreeing with my days choices, I struggled to keep my sense of humor. Luckily, after giving the local auto parts store, my sad story, the manager said he would deliver the new battery. He did and I had my car running in short order. It tested correct for alternator voltage, so I was relieved it was only the battery. He was impressed with the tools I had out, my SK 10mm deep socket on the Snap On 3/8 rachet, and 10mm long handle Craftsman box end, all 50 years old. He also liked my Professional digital multimeter.
So, no cancer results to brag or cry about until tomorrow.
Fingers crossed for today.

Physical therapy wore me out this morning. My weekly call with my friend who is finally getting out of the rabbit hole and taking control of her life again.

Got the outside watering done and working on rearranging stuff in the dining room. It is a relief to see things getting back in order after packing up all but 5 Aerogardens. Four are empty and one still has cherry tomatoes. That little plant has been producing for a year and a half and I harvested a handful this morning.

Ugh, what a stressful day you had, Faye. I hope things go smoothly today and you get some good news. I'll be thinking of you today.
As for the new battery, even if I could get one disconnected I couldn't lift it out of the engine bay. Those things are heavy!!

Got my monthly power bill. Gas is low, but normally so in Summer. Fpr the 3rd month I've cut my electricity bill substantially. Most of that is load-shifting to off-peak billing hours, but a chunk comes from using solar power gathered by scampering around using portable solar panels. As much lighting as I can manage is using stored solar power now as well. Careful management of AC use also helps, of course, but that's not new.
Even with our high rates here, my last month billing is $103 combined.

What is your investment and your time load shifting? What do you mean by AC management?

I was only able because I still had my old battery carrying handle. It wasn't easy, but I got it done. The new one came with a handle. Well, time to get on the road to docs.

Well, I have had one broody hen basically sitting on nothing as we don't have a rooster just now and I keep taking the eggs others put in her nesting box. So yesterday, after figuring her eggs would have hatched by now, if she had ever actually had any, I went to fleet farm and bought three chicks and tucked them under her last nite. She accepted them!!! So this morning I had to move her out of the main nesting box and all went well. She will set for three days so I have to bring her breakfast in bed even though these chicks are old enough to be out and about with mom. Mom is on the set schedule. All seem to have the idea. The chicks even drank out of a new low water container instead of what they had at the store.
Then I hiked over to the spice apple tree across the pasture. From far away it looked covered but I could not reach most of the good apples. Maybe enough for a couple of quarts of spiced apples. So many of them were on the ground already. And, sadly the other apple tree is a delicious tree and no one of us likes those. I guess I forgot.
Can't wait for the cortlands to be ripe. And the honey crisp is covered this year. Wolf River. Yum.

Let me take a stab at this. Our electric companies are trying to avoid brown outs or black outs during the excessive heat, asking consumers to cut energy usage during peak energy usage times. In theory they will charge less during off peak hours. (We shall see). AC management is just Air Conditioning usage. Here, we open windows at night if it is not too humid or is at least cooler than outside. and close up during the day. We don't cook much in the summer so....
Hubby's house is as tight as possible. We even have an air exchanger for winter to keep the windows clear of condensation.
I finished our basement and it is very pleasant down there even w/o AC. I was proud of it even before electric company comments.

I went the grocery store early this morning to grab a few things, dropped some things off at the charity building, returned an item at one of the big box stores, and cussed about our property tax bill that we received today that went up another $350 dollars this year!

Cancer! She doesn't believe it has spread and visit to surgeon to schedule surgery. Specialty surgeon a month away and the doc says that's too long, so waiting for phone call to try and get it moved up. I am not surprised and grateful for the doctors call for a biopsy, which she says no other oncologist would have done based on scans and blood test that all show good. She says it was the best call she has ever made in 30 years.

Sorry to hear this, Faye. I hope they can get the surgery moved up, and I'm glad you have a competent doctor! I hate cancer.
That is shocking news, since you have been doing so well, but as you say, it is great that you have such a wonderful doctor and she is getting things taken care of to help you with this new finding.
Adding prayers that they can get the surgery done right away and that everything goes well !

I think of Marie and I consider myself lucky! Entire body scan set up soon and before surgery. Thanks to all for concern and well wishes. I am slightly down, but I am older and crankier than I was when I had colon cancer.
Being proactive does pay off.
I am very sorry to hear that and pray the surgery will be entirely successful.

My lady friend is now out of rehab, and back in her assisted living facility. Still have some kinks to work out, such as meds and a hospital bed, etc. She seems to like the AL facility and has made a couple of friends, so that part is good.
