What Are You Doing Today?

That stinks. I've taken Keflex for bladder infections and it knocked it right out. I did not know it had other uses. How long ago did you start taking it?
I started on Monday. Whatever I have in my arm threatened to go septic, so I received an injection of Rocephin as a loading dose, then started the Keflex for 10 days. Hopefully all will be well. The arm has begun feeling better but is still not fully functional. I cannot reach my mouth or my right ear. so I have to do everything regarding my head and neck with my left hand. If it doesn't get better, I will have to take other measures...like an ER visit for IV stuff I suppose.

Good morning to all-

Just got in from mowing the grass- before it gets too brutally hot.
Got to go to town and get a tank of equipment gas.

Working on a couple of magazine article assignments- I enjoy doing research- and especially since part of my research will involve a high-end boat ride and fishing trip for photos next week... It's a dirty job, but I am willing to do it.

Trying to get summer-dead garden cleaned up for fall planting- broccoli and pak choi plants are coming up in seed pots for much later transplant in garden.

And then it will be naptime- if Toby the cat will allow that...

you all be safe and keep well- Ed

I need to do vs what gets done, are two very different things.
I need him to vacuum , I need to Swifter mop. Go pay the rent.
Wash a little load. Figure out supper for later.
Patiently waiting for an Amazon order to come in today, as Sophie needs the ordered dog food.
I have a mental list, but no way can do it all. At the moment it is heat pad, in hopes of getting this done shortly.

My task for today is to rent a small trailer and move my lady friend's power wheelchair out of my garage to the assisted living facility. She is supposed to be released from rehab tomorrow, and the staff there recommended she have it, but the rehab facility has to approve it. The chair weighs about 400 pounds so it is not something I can just throw in the back....

Currently I am sitting and in 'recovery mode.' Our next door neighbors had a load of sandy soil dumped in their front yard, to build a large sandbox play area for their granddaughter in the back. They invited us to help ourselves since a dump truck holds a LOT of dirt. We have some low spots in our front lawn where 2 large oak trees were taken down years ago and decided to take them up on the offer of free filler.

All I can say is, "oh my God." After shoveling and spreading 4 wheelbarrows of soil, leveling and raking it, I knew I had to get in out of the heat and sit for a while. I took a cold shower and I am feeling a little sick from the heat.

The old gray mare just ain't what she used to be.

Well, it came from the heart...not the wallet.

It is interesting to see how windfalls have destroyed lives. That Powerball prize is insane. I took a look and there are 14 nations on the planet whose GDP is less than that prize.

One can only hope that there are multiple winners splitting it, for their own sake. I've only bought Powerball tickets a couple of times in my life, and every time I hoped that I win the second, third or fourth prize, and not the top one.
We had many BIG winners in our town back when powerball started. Sister was always disappointed when they weren't me. They were paltry 10 million and the like. Then 100,000 million. Mainstreet was called the Miracle Mile.
Hubby said he wanted his half off the top if we won, after the tax man got his half off the top, because he knew I would give it all away. With all that off the top, the prize didn't seem so big anymore. But hubby was right. I got the first three numbers sometimes back when I would watch the drawing and the first thing I was going to do was throw up.

Virginia has a pick 6 numbers game called Bank-A-Million. The prize is something like $1.4 million, so your after-tax winnings should be near $1 Million. I try to play the games with the least unrealistic odds, and I play anywhere from every other week to every few months. I think the machines have facial recognition and screw you if you play often, then toss you $40 if you've been absent for a while to try to lure you back.

Regarding your lucky area: I bet there were people from all over coming there to buy tickets. Do you know how much the merchant got for selling that $100 Million ticket?

@Ed Delabama , I tip my hat to you. That was a lot of work in this heat, even if you started at First light.👍👍

I sat on a cement block under the barn overhang, while the blessed farrier trimmed my horses at 9:00 AM. He is a blessing because my horses were sequestered in a small paddock, they needed walked up to, haltered and tied -tied so they can see the ridge where they are sure the boogie man lives🙄🙄. It is not his job to catch them, but I can’t get around good enough to do it myself when they know they are wanted for something 😁😁. The paddock is only 24’ X 100’ so easy peasy for someone whose hips work like they should.

This farrier is good, gets the job done quick, and gives the horses quick pats & praise after each hoof is done. They love him. I alway tip him with money but this time I gave him three full boxes of borium head nails from back when I used to trail ride.

I didn’t ride groomed trails. I rode “where no man has ever gone before”, lol. There were only a few people who would ride with me, regardless of how good their riding skills were. Most who said no thanks either wouldn’t trust their horse, or my reputation for riding off grid preceded me.

I sprayed the horses before the farrier started but it still didn’t stop those miserable big black horse flies from landing on my senior horse. They are impervious to any brand of fly spray.

Thennnnn ——- When I let the dogs out in their backyard this afternoon, one of those horse flies was on the outside of the screen. I couldn’t get to it to pull its wings off. I don’t smash them, I catch them, pull their wings off for them to get their come uppance for the welts they put on my horses..

Middle Tennessee is working its way up to a REAL temperature of 100 on Sunday. This entire month is supposed to be mid-high 90’s which is a good a bit above average. 😢🔥😢🔥

No. I know they got something. I just don't know how much.

You make me miss my guys. When I was down to one gelding, I would bring him in from the pasture by draping the lead rope over his withers and my arm over them too. He sort of carried me back to the barn that way.
He knew when I was hunting a horse fly and stood still even if I smacked him to get the fly which I did often. He appreciated it.

I learned a new word today: withers.

Good evening to all-
I also hate those big black flies. I have had them sneak up on me when I was busy working on something and bite. Let me tell you, when those nasty things bite, they draw blood and it hurts. I can tolerate most critters, but anything that bites me and brings blood- ticks, mosquitoes, deer flies, horse flies- I have no patience with and I kill all I can.

I have very limited experience with horses, but I have spent a lot of time in the company of cattle.

you all be safe and keep well- Ed

:poop::poop::poop: That is right folks, today was a big S H I T!!!!

I decided to head to the Oncologist early. It was hot so I hit the start button on my car. Click click click. I knew immediately that the battery was shot. No time to monkey around with it so I started walking. 3 miles in the heat wasn't pleasant and even if I could keep up a fast pace, I was going to be late. I called and was told all the receptionist were busy. Leave a message. I did and tried again 3 times while speed walking. I never got a return call. I arrived 15 minutes late, hot and disgusted, and ready to battle if the little twips gave me any reschedule crap.

On arriving and apologizing for being late because my car was DIG, Dead In Garage, they asked when my appointment was. I told them and then they agreed that yes, it was for Friday the 14th. I asked what the problem was and then they said, "Sorry Honey It's Thursday," abbreviated S H I T.

So dragging my old tail home, sweaty, legs disagreeing with my days choices, I struggled to keep my sense of humor. Luckily, after giving the local auto parts store, my sad story, the manager said he would deliver the new battery. He did and I had my car running in short order. It tested correct for alternator voltage, so I was relieved it was only the battery. He was impressed with the tools I had out, my SK 10mm deep socket on the Snap On 3/8 rachet, and 10mm long handle Craftsman box end, all 50 years old. He also liked my Professional digital multimeter.

So, no cancer results to brag or cry about until tomorrow.

I tip my hat to you for walking that walk.

SK’s, Snap On’s, Real Craftsman ‘s, those are names we don’t hear anymore…

Most importantly, I’m glad your car is running and it was only a battery.
