What Are You Doing Today?

No plans today other than my walk. I did all the yard work yesterday plus one load of laundry. OK, today I have two loads left to do. Small loads, but laundry none the less.

Was told that there was a ranch grass fire about quarter mile above me yesterday. I didn't notice because of the wind direction and I think I was taking a nap when it broke out. I remember the hearing sirens, but was so tired from yard work, I couldn't wake. In a few minutes I will walk up there and see the damage. Only about 30 acres to burn and although the rancher had bulldozed a fire break to protect the new housing development and mowed the 30 acres, the mowed grass was dry. The heat, low humidity, and wind was just right for a fire. Probably some of the workers threw down a cigarette.

This morning we have 85 active fires, within a 100 mile radius, and over 880,000 acres burned and still not controlled. Lucky for me, the light breeze is carrying the smoke away and the ceiling went higher. The morning sun is slightly orange colored, but better than last few days ago. I was able to open my windows and enjoy the outside air. The 24/7 AC was wearing on my nerves. Temp at 61 F has me in full length jeans.

What was once just nice fitting slim fit jeans are now skin tight skinny jeans. My light tee shirt is bottom butt cheek long, so no shameful presentation. The uninformed will think I am just wearing denim leggings.

I've been cleaning out the refrigerator and organizing stuff. I ran out of 1 quart vacuum sealer bags and Amazon did not deliver as promised so I need to run to Walmart. I'm sure no one will be there on a Sunday afternoon.

I stripped sheets off my bed to wash and they are in the dryer. I don't know why I hate changing sheets so much; the thick heavy mattresses are just about too much for me these days. Maybe I'll start sleeping in my recliner or get myself a sleeping bag.

I went out in the backyard to see if anything needed a drink of water. It is so hot on the pool deck that my feet got broiled on the bottom. I was dancing all around until I made it back to my trusty flip-flops on the patio.

I can’t pull those fitted bottom sheets over our deep mattress either, so I started ordering larger ones. I now use king size for our queen size bed, and that helps a lot. They are too large, but that is easier to deal with than too small.
Bobby often helps me with getting the bottom sheet put on, and the rest of it is not that hard.

I'm the same way, Beth and Yvonne. I can't hardly put those blasted fitted sheets on the bed anymore.

I washed bed sheets today too, Beth. :D

I know that wouldn't work for me, Yvonne. I am anal about having my fitted sheet so taut you can bounce coins off of it. :D I can't stand a wrinkly bottom sheet so I guess I'll keep struggling.

It's not quite so bad putting sheets on the adjustable bed; I just raise the head and foot and slide the sheet on, then lay the mattress down flat and it pulls the sheet tight.

Yes sheet changing is a pain and takes us both. I have found that if I put the fitted bottom sheet on inside out,,for some reason it adheres to the mattress better. I wanted the zip up sheets but could not afford those.
Like Beth, I want the sheets tight fitting, military style, when possible.
We invested in a paddle on Amazon few years back, that really helps tucking in the side portion of sheets. A couple in their 90's invented it, provided what I read was true.

Well, today I did a few extra chores which made us late for our annual church picnic. Then I ate too much. It was fun with great music and even though it was hot, the breeze and the trees made it pretty nice. We all brought something. I brought fresh veggies which I brought last year. No one brought them last year but 4 of us brought them this year. We will be so regular.
Thanks Ken. We can see that avatar.

Good morning slackers! Well, surprise, surprise, old Faye knows what she will be doing today and she ain't all that happy about any of it.

First thing this morning, after exercises and breakfast, I started in reviewing all I have to do to get my new credit card number on all the accounts with auto payment. Then linking my accounts again with new number. What a hassle. Phone calls to a couple of places last afternoon where a waste as the representatives didn't know jack :poop:!!! One gal couldn't even say Faye right in proper English. I think her hijab was impairing her hearing.

The problem started when a charge for over a hundred came in from a titty bar in Bilge Water, Indiana. My credit card company contacted me and froze my account and issued me a new card and number. I long for the days when that low life, scum bag, sicko, pervert wanker, would have had his drunken ass drug out and forced to attend a neck tie party, his own.

But before I can do all that is necessary to clean up that mess, I also have to go to a new cell phone company and get my sim card changed or buy a new phone. You see, my old cell provider sold out to another. Big mess all around getting this 💩 straightened out. My cell phone doesn't work right now and forces me to use the 🦖 landline.

But before any of that happens, I am walking to my 6 month cancer review. It will be a 5 mile round trip. Luckily, they haven't called to reschedule as has happened twice already, so this walk and visit, hopefully will relieve the stress of being robbed and the feel of violation by some, 🐔💩, 🐎🫏,🐛, 🐀, bastard!

As a side note, my vision is wonky during all this commotion, so that adds just adds to the problem. When I get home, I will make a pirate patch for my bad eye. I hope I don't encounter bowel issues during my walk. Being old is the :poop:'s.

I broke my rule of never doing business on a Monday- still I am correct, not a good day for that, So moving on, finally after water leak for a month and a $135 water bill - plummer made it out here to turn water off.. I guess to fix I hope.
Over a month and still waiting for someone to come and give estimate on the caved in laundry room ceiling.
The purse bag I ordered to carry Sophie in tomorrow, is now not coming until Lord knows when now. I specifically ordered so that it would come by today. Will have to leave her in bathroom, with her essentials, until we make it back late tomorrow.:(
Hodgepodge of things off and on today to get done. Another Hot day !

Heidi you may want to peruse Amazon.

Got the house idiot rally done and two batches of bread dough rising. A friend will stop by for nibbles and a chat and he will take bread plus a bag of OMG out of my garage from orphan bottles of wine, candles to who knows what.

Results at Oncologist have me going in next week for a 12 point biopsy. While not my idea of a fun morning, the actual biopsy takes about two minutes. If biopsy has any indication of cancer, I can choose surgery or radiation. I already chose surgery. Walk ended up being 6 miles due to doctor moving to new huge cancer clinic. I was on the same medical campus, but their new office was 1/2 mile away at other end of campus.

Now off to deal with cell phone issue, then late lunch, and then back to make calls to all place on auto pay.

I must say, Faye, you have a way with emojis.

My power was out from 9:30 last night until 6PM.

This morning I went to 7-11 for coffee and swung by Walmart to get cinnamon buns and instant coffee (I have a gas stove.) I had stopped by McDonald's first and tried to order coffee through the kiosk and it would not take credit cards. These days, you stand at the counter and basically get ignored. One worker saw me when she brought someone's carry-out order to him, but she just walked back into the kitchen. It's sad to see what COVID has done to places, and McDonald's is really pushing people to use the drive-thru (no dine-in allowed.)

I got back and my neighbor asked me to get my tractor and yank a partially-connected limb from a tree the storm took down. The upside to country life is that branches & limbs just get pushed into the woods.

For lunch I drove to a hybrid buffet restaurant the next county over (45 minute drive) because the Soup & Salad buffet are included with the price of the meal, and because I had time to kill. So I have soup & salad for the dine-in meal and get the entree to go...but he bastards changed their hours. Used to be closed on Sundays, and now they're open Sundays and closed Mondays. I drove 15 minutes further to a Chinese buffet out that way that's pretty good. They, too, are closed on Mondays. (How are they gonna take us over with that slack work ethic???) I ended up at a Mexican restaurant.

Dunno what I'm gonna do for dinner. I guess most of the stuff in my fridge needs to be thrown out (dammit.) It's gonna take a while to cool back down...the display is flashing, meaning it is too warm for safety. At least the freezer stayed at 8°F, so I'm not worried about the food in there. I'm still full from lunch and IHOP is the only game in town past 7PM. My local IHOP has not been 24 hours since COVID, so I gotta get there before they close at 10PM (and their posted hours are always a "maybe") unless I go to Walmart and get something to microwave.
