What Are You Doing Today?

I haven't had chocolate chip cookies or biscotti in such a long time ! So good dipped in a delicious cup of coffee . Remember the taste though 😋😋

When I make chocolate chip cookies for us, I make them with half the amount of sugar and use dark chocolate chips. The cookies are more than enough sweet for us. I put the full amount of sugar in the recipe, when I make them for others, but there is no way I could eat one of those. To sweet! The biscotti has less sugar and a lot of cocoa in the recipe so that helps cut the sweetness. :)

It is getting too hot here, too, and the “gardening bug” seems to have worn off in my life. It is going to be focused on keeping cool and out of the hot sun except for relaxing out in the swimming pool for the next couple of months, and then yardwork and gardening can happen again when it starts to cool down this fall.

It is cooler today, so I will probably be outside in the yard for a little while, but there is still way too much humidity to breathe freely.

I've been outside, pulling up tomato plants and watering. Seemingly overnight we had an invasion of tomato horn worms that have stripped plants down to the stalk. It's getting too hot to bother with gardening anyhow.

Those tomato worms are terrible! They can eat a tomato plant in lickety-split. I had parsley worms do the same thing to my parsley. The little fat green B*****ds!

We decided to go for a drive to Dodge City. I went to Dollar Tree spent a big $18. He bought 6 sacks of some top soil to put
into some tubs a neighbor gave him. Drove back road to back home, Then He salvaged a tomato plant or two, a few bell peppers, transplanted into the tubs . I sat just inside garage door and watched. Enjoyed the sun and light breeze.
He plans on tilling the garden out and over ,then work on tub growing this year.He only works normally early of morning in summer. Yep getting to hot to do much outside. Tomorrow suppose to be 105!
Enjoyable day for me :)

I am resting my bones and licking my wounds after three days with The Littles featuring a trip to a water park where I dragged my aching body up and down stairs and in and out of various water park rafts.

Then, I had to build a "safari tent hotel" in the living room, provide a safari trip where I had to be the numerous animals AND provide ethnic entertainment (which consisted of several renditions of me doing "tribal dances" while beating on a bucket and singing "The Lion Sleeps Tonight").

Luckily they left me 5-star reviews and my tips (rendered in hugs and kisses and "I Love You's") were generous.

Back rubs, stories and some songs ended the evenings. And then I fell into bed like a ton of bricks.

I hope I can keep this up for a few more years.....

What a dang day we have had so far. First off Mark cuts his bottom lip while trimming his beard and mustache . Blood all over the sink, would not stop bleeding. Once it stopped, he went out side, I followed as it was nice and cool. About 10ish he left the door to laundry room , then door to kitchen. The lock was locked all on its own! Credit card, screwdriver nor chisel would open door. Called his friend the locksmith, who just happened to be in town, They worked for hour and a half trying to get lock off, tried the door facing..not budging! I need to pee! Finally, somehow they got it off . Having to replace the whole lock, Mark leaves to buy new one. Friend Is diabetic, by 12:30 we ate lunch and they are back out their trying to get new lever door knob on.
1:13 still working. Something about it being a really old house has not helped. So glad Dennis was home as tomorrow he leaves again for a week. There is no real way to get in front door either, no key,,and we are not sure about the new glass screen door..
Anyways the day is still growing a bit long:confused:

All the meat SO brought home is portioned, preseasoned, in the freezer including six pounds of crumble breakfast sausage. Stove is squeaky clean as are vent filters and floor.
I dribbled Merlot on my brand new satin top with feather prints. He said it look good even with the add on.
Tired, need to take the last stove pieces out of the dishwasher and assemble dinner. Why do we have to eat every day? Fresh sheets and all the hoopla.

Sorry he cut himself but he was shaving for you.

You do not know how to go through the front door or the glass screen door? Will you please explain? Pushing a garage door from the bottom? Pet door?

Bobby is out with the chainsaws and cutting up the limbs and branches that ended up in our yard from the tree cutting next door. The guys falling the trees took some of the branches out, but there are still quite a few there, and in the way of mowing or doing any kind of yard work with those large branches lying on the ground.

I picked basil and dried it yesterday, and this morning I put the dried leaves in the food processor and tuned them into fine pieces and put them into a jar for winter.
This morning, i am going to go out and work in the yard and garden for a while.

I started some winter squash in a container, and it has sprouted, so I am moving some of it near where I planted the new red raspberries, and it has lots of room to grow there and will shade the bottom of the raspberry plants through the summer heat.

After a night of broken sleep, due to the neighbors dog barking since midnight, I got out early to flush out my fountain that my friendly raven drags all manner of food he finds that school kids a couple miles away, throw down. Hot wings are his favorite, but this morning it was slowed to a pitiful drizzle, plugged with peanuts shells. That is a new one and less disgusting than hot dog pieces or pieces of buns. The worst was the time he must have raided another birds nest, and brought in remnants of baby birds.

But that is not my story for today. I have resolved what is causing the dog to bark!

"Y'all get your nasty fat filthy ol disgusting rat asses out of here, right now." They both stood and looked at me in defiance. The big fat one yawned. I approached them clapping my hands and yelling derogatory names at them. They assumed a battle stance.

"So you wanta play that game, do you, you filthy kangaroo wanta bees." I got out the hose and turned the nozzle to longest reach and I blasted them chasing them out of my yard. Back inside, I poured a fresh cup of homebrew Mocha and decided to unwind on the patio since this is the first warm morning in a long while.

On top of the fence, both opossums stared me down. Not wanting to unwind the hose again, I picked up a dozen golf ball sized rocks. Closest I came was 6 feet, but the rocks hitting the fence got them moving. Not fast but out of sight. These nasty rats are responsible for agitating the dog and also destroying my tall wildflowers.

So, no plans today, since my morning planning was rudely interrupted.
LOL I thought you were yelling at your next door neighbors.

It was surprising when I started cutting the sugar in half in my baking that it actually tasted better to me. The family did not notice. But when I substituted stevia or other substitutes for sugar I got some thumbs down. I only bake on rare occasions which makes it more special.
