What Are You Doing Today?

I have an appointment with the dermatologist in a little while to have a spot checked near my collarbone. I don't think it's anything serious (and probably nothing). I expect this to be a fairly quick in-and-out doctor visit.

I have also requested an appointment with a local ophthalmologist for a cataract surgery evaluation. This is for a second opinion, and since my current eye doctor is a retinal specialist who doesn't do cataract surgeries I need to find another eye surgeon.

I'll be stopping by the voting facility to cast my vote in the runoffs. Now I wish I had gone last week during early voting.

I have had a busy morning cooking. I have made some dinner rolls to wrap up and put in the freezer. I also made a big pot of meat sauce that usually goes with mostaccioli that has been simmering all morning. I will put the sauce into individual serving size containers to add to the freezer. Then there was all that clean up in the kitchen; with more to come later. {big sigh}

Good morning , Enjoying some coffee while on the site & looking around !

Do the usual housework ☺️

Will have breakfast soon , then call my mom !

Go to the recycling centre to bring cans ( 4 big bags ) that we get charged .10 cents each at the grocery store . Get our refund & then a delicious Cappuccino at Tim Horton !🤗

Sit a bit in the yard if there aren't too many mosquitoes ....yesterday morning was bad ugh

Of course later on drop by here to look around and do some posts

Lunch then outside a bit & try to do a bit of exercises

Supper & a movie . Afterwards bedtime

Enjoy your day ! ☺️

Have a screen guy scheduled to replace one large section on the patio cage. A squirrel chewed a hole in it trying to get to a container of bird seed that I made the mistake of leaving on the patio over night. Not a big job, and thought I would do it myself, until I realized {a} it involves a step ladder and {b} I'm almost 80 years old. It seems the only tool I use for home repairs anymore is my debit card.

eta - just realized that today would be our 63rd wedding anniversary if my 1st wife was still living. Married in 1963, I was 16, she was 17. Damn

Do you get charged a deposit on every canned good you buy? How does the refund process work? Do they count the cans or just weight them and extrapolate a count? There used to be deposits on glass soda bottles here. I assume the mess and handling contributed to that process' demise.

No not yet ! I'm sure it will happen one day .

You can go to the grocery store & they have a place where you can manually put all eligible plastic containers and then go to a cashier and show your receipt and she gives you the cash ! It's a 10 cents deposit for each We go somewhere that we leave the big transparent bag full of plastic eligible containers/bottles with a sticker with all information and a few days later they send us a a-transfer that we can deposit in our bank account ! ☺️

It's a bit of a pain but this morning we had 4 big bags and should be around $40.00

I calculated all deposits on my grocery bill and it's around $10.00 a month ...we had about 4 months accumulated in the basement ! ☺️

As an update to my earlier post #351, my lady friend is now in a care facility. Going back a couple of weeks, she was scheduled to go to an assisted living facility, but that fell apart at the last minute. It was blamed on missing paperwork, but I suspect they figured out she needs more medical care that assisted living can give. The next day she was notified that she would not be accepted. Two days after that, she feeling really bad and called 9 1 1 and was taken to the emergency room. She was in the hospital for a week, and then she called me to say she had been moved to a different place, and it was bad, and that she had already called the police.

Understand, that she did not tell me where she is. and would not let me see her while she was in the hospital. So I have no idea if she is in a skilled nursing home, a memory care unit, or an assisted living place. I've called several times in the last few days, and it goes direct to voice mail. I suspect they (whoever "they" might be) took her phone away so she can't keep calling 9 1 1, etc. I I intended to call her son, but she deleted his number from my phone at some point, and I have no way of contacting him.

She had a truck load of her stuff removed when she thought she was headed for the assisted living facility - tons of stuff she will never need or see again, and there is still more of her stuff here. I'll give her a little more time, then the local thrift shops can have it all. I hope to have this house for sale in a few weeks.

Ain't life grand

You have certainly had your hands full lately, Hoot. I'm glad your lady friend is in a place where she will be cared for and you can move on.

Ended up texting with a young gentleman who is a friend and house cat. His and his partner’s family are very close knit. Mom has cancer and does not discuss much. Loss of speech to finish a sentence had him very concerned Monday when he came by. He is on her Hippa release forms. Long story short - mom is in advanced stage 4 and has not shared anything with spouse/family.

The humidity is terrible today, but the sun is shining, so I am trying to spend time outside.
I am going out there for about 15 minutes, and then back inside to cool down (we have the de-humidifier on in the living room) and recuperate. Then back outside and do another small chore.
Bobby had my Mini-Mower out for a spin this morning and mowed some of the back yard and that gave me a nice bin of grass to muclch over my strawberries that were planted a few weeks ago, and are now growing really good. The little electric mower seems to do a great job, and it is easy to use and quiet. The collection bin is the perfect size for me to use to mulch around the plants after mowing.

Planting, planting, planting. We have some kind of ceremony to attend this afternoon for granddaughter. I am supposed to have the cucumbers in the big greenhouse planted when my wife gets home from her church work. I really screwed up yesterday when relocating a fence charger that a moose knocked out yesterday. An electrical line broke when I was "unearthing" and it blew the breaker for all the outbuildings. The breaker won't reset even though I have taken everything down on that circuit, so I guess the breaker is shot and will have to be replaced. What a chore!

Hoot, you did what you could do for a long time. She is probably better off where she is now and you need to start looking out for yourself.

I will never again complain about our bathroom being small. I tackled all the wood work with toothbrush, fiber towels, cotton swabs and dark furniture polish. Two hours later I saw a difference. Toilet will have to wait until tomorrow. Never again a house with a lot of knotty alder and frilly woodwork. Give me plain white and a paintbrush.

Cancer talk is about all happening around here today. A friends, daughter, mid 50's, just found out she probably has cancer and is waiting for the biopsy report. Her GYN says it looks as though it was caught early. She still chose to focus on the worst case scenario. Lots of drama to say the least, but I have to remind myself that everyone deals with the shock of such news differently. I was so worn out from all the drama, that I took a nap, once they all left.

I've gone through a similar situation recently. Friend has a small encapsulated cancer and will probably have a lumpectomy and be done with it, but she has gone off the deep end. I know the terror when hearing "cancer" but jeeze.
