I guess my shopping is more eccentric. I can't clearly recall the last time I ate out, not even fast food. The haughty poseurs, rudeness, and prices are all absurd.
I do most shopping with smaller grocers. For a lot of canned goods I ask the staff to get me wrapped packs (generally stuff comes to them in carboard trays wrapped in plastic). Diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, tuna, even beef in gravy. Larger bags of rice, a cardboard carton of boxed macaroni. A carton of unsweetened applesauce cups. Stuff like that.
This gets me a good price and they'll even load it into the car.
From there I can focus on other things like fresh produce, cheese, bread, frozen vegetables, and fresh meats. By making a few trips for stable staples my more regular trips can be more exploratory. The essentials are already stocked up at home. I can go a month in Winter without shopping at all unless I really messed up.
