What Are You Doing Today?

We had the same ting happen with our hot water tank. They put it in a closet in the kitchen and the doorway was too small to get the tank out of the closet. Bobby ended up getting one of those small instant hot water things that does not have a tank, and we have used that for the last 4-5 years now.
This last year, Bobby took out the wall and the doorway and removed the old hot water tank, so we now have storage in the closet. We have been really happy with how well the instant hot water things water thing works.
We have the instant small water heater under the kitchen sink. Love it.

I'm planning to go hunt and gather at the grocery store for a few items. It's always something. I hate to buy a lot of groceries at one time anymore.

I'm the same way. It seems like I am wasting more and more food because I buy too much at a time. Plus, we are eating out more than we used to and I'm not complaining about that!! 😁

SO is on a play date. Onion sets are waiting for me. Dinner is in the fridge. Do I really want to rearrange the coffee storage? Kitchen cabinets go all the way to the ceiling and Amazon delivered yesterday. I like to have six months worth on hand.
My daughter has always teased me about my stock pile of preps. But when covid hit I had everything I needed. It is kind of like insurances we have.

I guess my shopping is more eccentric. I can't clearly recall the last time I ate out, not even fast food. The haughty poseurs, rudeness, and prices are all absurd.

I do most shopping with smaller grocers. For a lot of canned goods I ask the staff to get me wrapped packs (generally stuff comes to them in carboard trays wrapped in plastic). Diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, tuna, even beef in gravy. Larger bags of rice, a cardboard carton of boxed macaroni. A carton of unsweetened applesauce cups. Stuff like that.

This gets me a good price and they'll even load it into the car.

From there I can focus on other things like fresh produce, cheese, bread, frozen vegetables, and fresh meats. By making a few trips for stable staples my more regular trips can be more exploratory. The essentials are already stocked up at home. I can go a month in Winter without shopping at all unless I really messed up.

I use those 4 to 6 inch square microfiber cloths to clean my glasses, camera lenses, magnifiers, and cellphone slab. Sure, they crud up. But you can clean tham as I just did.

What I find works best is to soak them in water, then use a drop or two of unscented liquid hand soap. squish it up and knead it in, dunk in more water and squish and knead a little more ad squeeze hard to get the soap in there. Then spread them out to just soak in clean water. After a half hour or more, wring them and rinse them well. Then just hang them to air dry.

Hand soaps are formulated for exactly the oils and grime you want to remove. As long as you don't get ridiculously rough about it, those cloths can last a very long time. No reason to keep tossing them out buying new ones. What's wrong with people any more?

I am actively trying to avoid anything on my honey do list. Laundry which is the perpetuum mobile. Scientists have apparently not discovered the laundry room. There is no way around harvesting dill, peas and chard. Two doughs are rising for mini focaccia with various toppings for a friend. He will bring me cuttings from a climbing rose and take a look at going out jeans. Hand bead the hem or resort to beaded trim?

I've already made the potato salad and have it chillin' in the refrigerator. I get up pretty early so I got my taters and eggs on cooking, when I got up; so they have time to cool down to handle. My husband will have enough tater salad to last him a few days now. We will also have left over pork steaks too, so he can eat that tomorrow too.

I paid the water/sewer bill on line, checked my cameras to see what was going on through the night. Well, we had a skunk, a raccoon, and a few deer move through. Then I see a deer running like crazy, and a single coyote came into view. It was chasing the deer. The deer got away. I did not see a pack of coyotes, thank goodness. I have not seen coyotes, or heard any of them yipping for many years around here. I texted my neighbor to be on the lookout because she has a dog.

ETA: It's not the same neighbor that let's the dog poop in my yard. ;)
