What Are You Doing Today?

Make a trash run. I cleaned out a lot of rice & beans I bought when I first moved in and thought I should "Prep." I never bagged & sealed it, and it got bugs in it.

Then I went to Walmart. They are remodeling, everything is relocated and it was crowded & chaotic.

Right now I'm watching women's college volleyball. Louisville v Kentucky. Damn those women can play.

Our stupid cable was out for the past 12-14 hours. 🤬 So no internet, cable TV or landline phone. I'm thinking I'm going to check on pricing for StarLink or a different internet provider since Comcast sucks.

I was able to wield my shovel to move some sand around in the back yard and repot some things. Got everything prepped for dinner so it will be fast to cook. Did a load of laundry.

Let's see...

Fed chickens early this morning, fed and scratched GreyTom the outside cat, then cranked up a weed eater and cleaned up a plot in the garden. Ran the garden tiller over the weeded plot and got it ready for some fall/winter veggie planting. Then set up the propane burner and got a big pot of water going- boiled up a few pounds of shrimp, and it was good-good for lunch.

Watching some football games and then evening feeding for chickens.

Quiet day- not bad.

I was going to work in the backyard, but it's drizzling. Although it's a rather pleasant drizzle, since it's not particularly cold out, a lot of things are harder to do in the rain. This might be good walking weather, but I don't know if I'll do that, either.
 
It has been a good rain off and on. I say that in quantity, not quality. We have had a bit too much rain for my tastes. A lot of Milwaukee and to the south is flooded again.
So, I fed the critters, went to church, came home and did some exercising and time wasting cleaning.
Still putting up apples.
Went to the store yesterday and in the veggie aisle I jokingly said to middle daughter, "LOOK, they are CHARGING for apples here!" She said she thought she might 'puke' when she was greeted by apples.
Good crop! Be careful what you wish for.
When it stops raining we will get back to plums.
 
Coffee and a nibble of ham, while we get ready to the big dentist appt today. Always rain around us but never happens until today of course ..lol least it is only 35 minutes away. Lots of twisty turning road way though. Unsure about rest of the day, For him resting up.
Update on the niece ..she is better, but her recovery time is going to be much longer now. DRs cleaned the site and added drain tube. Today will decide if they need another one.
 
These 7:00 am appointments are no fun!
I stopped at Tractor Supply and with a smile the gentleman offered to cool me down. Breakfast, hot tub, rally through the house and hopefully finish the infamous shirt.
 
I'm planning on doing mostly gardening today. I have to get the three honey berry bushes in the ground. The bed where I would like to plant them is overrun with weeds, I've been cleaning it on and off for the last couple of days.

The three strawberry plants I have to plant, I will be putting in a raised bed. The bed is set and ready to be filled and I have purchased bags of dirt to fill it. This will be my next project.

I've only been out in the garden working for a half hour and already I'm taking an extended break. I keep telling myself stop buying stuff that you have difficulty doing. It's like I'm testing myself, I'm hoping I can get this done by the end of the week.
 
I am enjoying this cooler weather that has arrived this morning. I have made a big pot of meat sauce for Mostaccioli this morning and it is simmering. Years ago, I worked with an Italian lady and she said all sauces must simmer for hours to meld the flavors.🤷‍♀️ I was tempted to polish off the wine that I used in the sauce because you know, it’s “5 o’clock somewhere” :D but, I decided to have a cuppa hot tea instead. Later on in the evening, I will soak some beans overnight to prepare to make some baked beans in the morning.

I have to go to the plant nursery again to find another plant or two. Maybe it will be tomorrow's project. One of my tall grasses that is in my landscaping that was so pretty for many years has decided it is just too much work to look that good anymore. It has been struggling for a few years. My husband dug it out this morning and disposed of it. We are going to be looking for something low maintenance to replace it.
 
Sounds like many of us have "outdoor projects" in process. I guess the promise of fall is inspiring!

I have finally decided to clear out the mess around my potting bench on the side of the house. It is out of sight so ends up being a catch-all for random bags of garden mulch, river rocks, unused pots and potting soil, and a few small raised bed containers. The potting bench is piled high with smaller pots, saucers, and tools. All of that stuff is a lot heavier than it used to be!

As usual, I start out enthusiastic--but like Tony, I'm overly optimistic about how much I can handle. So I did what I could and now I'm back inside, trying to recuperate. I may go back out there later or I may wait until tomorrow.

I'm with you, me too I'm inside resting. I made an additional mistake of ordering groceries from Walmart to be delivered, they are do here in about a half hour my rest will be cut short. I originally ordered groceries from BJ's yesterday and had a hassle with them so I reordered everything today from all Walmart. I think I'm done with being a member of BJ's.

Hooray I just have the strawberry plants to plant, I will start that project tomorrow.

I was wondering has anybody heard from Don is he okay?

I have been concerned, too. I know they are always busy around fair time, and I do not remember Don saying they were going anywhere. I sent him and email and asked Don to please check in.
If they are traveling, he should be able to email me, and if not, he can probably check in here on the forum.
 
Trying to work out transportation to medical appointments. I don't feel safe driving much at all until I resolve my vision issues (cataracts).

The intern I was seeing graduated, and I can't get prescriptions renewed until I go in to see a new doctor.

This results in more anxiety than I enjoy, so to speak.
