AHEM AHEM What about those that left their place on tractors, but never made it to school? I can't imagine those that never experienced unsanctioned tractor pulls and races. :sneaky: One thing to point out about this video is you didn't shift on the go (other than a high low turbo tranny) with those old tractors, you put it in the highest gear with full throttle and burned the clutch a bit before releasing. That was a basic racing technique. :ROFLMAO: I was guilty of racing and pulling, but never playing chicken, that was reckless and proved nothing.

Years ago I was on a tractor talk forum (out of sheer boredom) and an argument broke out over the model of the John Deere. I was mocked for saying it was a 2940. The "boys" said it was a 4020. Then I pointed out that when Bacon raised the bucket, 2940 was in clear site. That ended that thread. 🤣 The Massey Ferguson was a model 180, I think, but never got a good look at it.

And "again", I want to say "thanks" again, to all you senior "members", who were on the old SOC forum with us; that helped me talk Marie into getting me this Kubota Tractor, "Great Big Beautiful Tractor", it has proven itself to be a good one, to say the least. Marie was very "skeptical", about getting me one, and said, "no way", I barely see you as it is, because you're always out working on something. You get that "THING", and you will be out riding all over this place. So I asked y'all to help me talk her into this tractor, and it "worked", "thanks" to the pressure of all of you friends on here.

Marie's first time on Kubota. :D

Oh and I "forgot" to mention yesterday I learned something new. While I was grading the road, Jim one of my neighbors pulled right up beside; me in his truck; scared the "badgebies" out of me. I didn't even know he was there, and looked to the left, he was right up against my tractor, freaked me out and he laughed. I was angry for a "second", then I shut it off, and we talked for about 30 minutes.He has a John Deer tractor and told me he's been thinking that he gonna try loosening the two lower connections to box blade, so while grading road over up and down little hills, it will keep more level; which "I" think, won't work, but I didn't tell him.I think it want have enough control over box blade. What I learned was the tractor will have to have a rear view mirror on it. :unsure:

@Faye Fox I also like the looks of the Massey Ferguson better. My neighbor has an old one that is a rust bucket, but still starts. They move it around from time to time. I can’t find the pictures I took of it, I will when it doesn’t matter anymore lol lol

@Jake Smith rear view mirrors are good for more than just checking on traffic. They also mean you don’t have to crane your neck around as much, which is not as easy these days as it once was. I had asked my husband for a rearview mirror on my John Deere and he said no I would just knock it off anyway.🙄🙄

I would "love" to see "pics", when you find them. My brother Bobby has two Massey Ferguson's; one "big" one, with power steering, and you're right; trying to see behind with your straining neck; another plus. I will study some before finding just the right place to mount. :)

Being the tree hugger that I am,I have to watch out for my forest and make sure no small trees are killed by the tractor.

And then the tractor is off the farm for the entire day. I guess there were at least one too many tractors on the farm. Where I lived, especially in the days before cabs on most of the tractors, it would have been a very miserable cold ride to school on a tractor even if it was only 10 or 20 miles to school. Many of our farm kids lived much farther than that from school.

Yeah, I don't think it would work either @Jake Smith. Some guys with ATVs rig up a "ball and socket" hitch with a blade or a wagon, but then you couldn't lift it with hydraulics.
