Tariffs, "the most beautiful word in the world"

I'm starting to lose a lot of faith in people. The more I see, the more people seem like cavemen lost in the modern world. And that's an unintended insult to cavemen.

It is becoming obvious to me that even people from the Center to the Right who support Trump... more often than not do so for the wrong reasons. This undermines the cause, because so many of them really are like the caricatures the Left portrays them as.

It is quite discouraging. Or maybe I'm just having a bad day.

Historical statues are being destroyed (just as Communists do) and nothing is done about it. The government erected a statue of a fentanyl dealer as the hero to be worshiped. The party of Jim Crow has turned its attention to white people as the new face of "problems." Families are being destroyed, and in some states children are being taken away from their parents by the government if the parent does not go along with the brainwashing that their child "believes" themselves to be of the opposite gender. The global media is the largest propaganda machine ever created, and many of those being lied to are aware of it, and enjoy being able to overtly hate for the sake of hating. Cultures are being destroyed all over the planet and no one can stop it.

I think after decades of this crap and having everything "normal" destroyed, lots of us are happy to be on the "dishing it out" side...if only for a while. The only way to win is to lose ourselves, because those who are nothing have made it so. (This is where Faith should take over, but it's been shoved aside. Perhaps this is the cost that cannot be recouped.) With any luck, we can be the warrior who loses his Self in battle and returns home to rebuild civilization. With any luck.

Here is a video from Glen Beck, explaining why he now believes that President Trump is correct about tariffs, haw the USA was started to be with tariff and not income tax, and why it helps America.
It totally makes sense to me if imported commodities are going to have tariffs that more companies would build their products here in the US, and we would make and use more of our own , instead of buying it from China or elsewhere, thus helping our economy to grow, which still allowing trade with other countries.

Already companies that had moved to Mexico or other countries are now starting to open factories here again, and companies from other countries like Canada are also opening manufacturing plants here in the United States so that they can sell without the tariffs.

At this time,I can't take 30 minutes of Beck or anyone else, although, it's good to know more jobs are coming back, I just hope AI robots don't get most of them.

I don't need to post another Promethean Action video. By now you probably realize that the true enemy of the US lies within the UK and greater Europe, as it always has.

I don't buy everything they are selling, but on that point they seem to be on target. Their one-sided tariffs should have helped make that clear.

I think the real enemy of the USA are the people. We went from a sovereign Republic to a no mans land of socialism.
Our poor who are poor thru no fault of their own are without affordable place to live.

Every country has their poor and all of them are so without fault of their own. There are plenty of programs but the E word is not popular - effort.

This worries me because the events and reasons are known, though they require study and can be boring until you see the patterns and the points of attack. I think "having a pulse" shouldn't be a sufficient criterion for having a vote, and that this is one of the tools they used to take and maintain control. Our system wasn't set up that way for very specific reasons.

I won't claim to be an expert on tariffs and the economy, but I strongly suspect that there is a whole lot of propaganda surrounding the issue on both sides. As I see it, there's no doubt that if tariffs are placed on goods that are imported to the United States from China or any other country, the costs for these items are going to go up because someone is going to have to pay the added costs. However, at the same time, tariffs allow U.S. companies to compete in the same markets. The closer we get to imports costing as much as products made in the United States, the more competitive U.S. products will become. Since U.S. manufacturing is more highly regulated than that of several other countries, the cost of manufacturing here is going to be higher, and tariffs help balance that out. If we want to be competitive without tariffs, we would need to lighten the regulatory burden on U.S. manufacturing.

When U.S. manufacturing can become more competitive in the marketplace, we will start manufacturing more of what we consume here, employing more people, and enhancing our local, state, and federal economies. Plus, companies headquartered elsewhere will find it feasible to open manufacturing plants in the United States.

On the face of it, tariffs help to balance the economy. When you add to it the fact that these countries that are crying about U.S. tariffs have long had tariffs on U.S products, it becomes something we have to do to survive long-term. Otherwise, we're subsidizing foreign manufacturing.

This is an economic fact that works for other countries as well. I just heard a Canadian news broadcast that said that the only segment of the Canadian economy that is growing is their manufacturing sector, and that probably has much to do with tariffs. That works both ways, too. Canadian lumber companies that used to import much of their products into the United States have opened facilities in the United States in order to avoid the tariffs.

Other countries have long played the tariff game to their advantage, and I appreciate a president who is working in our interests rather than subsidizing the rest of the world at our expense.

Closely related to my last post, I am again watching a Canadian news program about mill closures in Canada that includes one Canadian company that has closed its New Brunswick mill to open one in Maine, and I have previously seen news reports of other Canadian-owned mills opening facilities in the United States to avoid the tariffs.

Simply switching its lumber markets to Europe and Asia isn't as easy as it seems because its mills are tooled to the imperial sizes used in America rather than metric sizes used in Europe and Asia, which would require millions of dollars or retooling, so it's more cost-effective to continue serving the U.S. market by opening mills in the United States.
