Tariffs, "the most beautiful word in the world"

Schumer is making ignorant statements about the U.S. trade deficit and inflation in a public speech. I don't know if he is really that ignorant or if he is just appealing to ignorant and uninformed voters.

Schumer is such a disgusting waste of oxygen. He filed legislation to grant the LGBTQ pride flag the same federal protections as the U.S. flag. Just when I thought he couldn't be more of a dipshit, he proves me wrong.

Here is a video from Glen Beck, explaining why he now believes that President Trump is correct about tariffs, haw the USA was started to be with tariff and not income tax, and why it helps America.
It totally makes sense to me if imported commodities are going to have tariffs that more companies would build their products here in the US, and we would make and use more of our own , instead of buying it from China or elsewhere, thus helping our economy to grow, which still allowing trade with other countries.

Already companies that had moved to Mexico or other countries are now starting to open factories here again, and companies from other countries like Canada are also opening manufacturing plants here in the United States so that they can sell without the tariffs.

I am glad that Glenn and others are beginning to see what Trump is doing. So many don't understand taxation and tariffs. I argue with my Progressive son-in-law, who, like most Progressives, think they always know best. He simply doesn't understand taxation because he has never truly thought about taxation. He, like Glenn Beck, just listened to others and believed what he heard. The worst tax IMO is the property tax that taxes unrealized capital gains. You are being taxed for just owning something and the taxes increase if the property appreciates but seldom go down when property values decline. It is similar to taxing stock investments when the value of the stock rises even if you don't sell the stock (or the real estate) and you are taxed over and over on the same possession. The fairest tax IMO is a sales tax with refund. A set sales tax, especially if a refund is given on an amount that is deemed vital for welfare. In other words, say that is is determined that each person must spend $30,000 per year for essential things like food, energy, etc. The tax on that $30,000 would be refunded to each person at the end of the tax year, no filing required. People who spend more than that per year would bear the tax burden. That is similar to what Trump is trying to do with tariffs: He wants to give each American taxpayer a refund of the tariffs that are on essential goods. Of course, he cannot explain it since even the economists, lawmakers, and others can't understand this strategy. it is, in a way, a tax refund, but since you don't have to file paperwork, nobody understands what he is doing.

Is that clear?

I don't need to post another Promethean Action video. By now you probably realize that the true enemy of the US lies within the UK and greater Europe, as it always has.

I don't buy everything they are selling, but on that point they seem to be on target. Their one-sided tariffs should have helped make that clear.

From 🇨🇦, to all of our friends and neighbours around the world, it's a BIG BEAUTIFUL DAY today thanks to the Supreme Court Ruling striking down donny's illegal tariffs.
When do we get rid of the dozens of 269% tariffs Canada has imposed on our imports for many years? Yet they wet their pants at our 25%.

I'll see if I can dig up the chart. There are a ton of them.

I've asked folks in another forum to find that data for me, since the web is full of "...in reaction to Trump" propaganda rather than straight historical facts. While we wait, I'll just leave this here:

Here we go. Preceded the Evil Trump and his unconscionable 25% by many decades:

edited to add: I just discovered that most of the high tariffs are anti-dumping measures, and only kick in after certain volumes of imported goods are reached. Anything below those thresholds are subject to much lower tariffs.

Canadian Tariffs on American Goods

Butter - 298.7% (longstanding tariff under supply management)

This is emblamatic of how much of the rest of the world has screwed us, with Congress being highly complicit...but I'm sure our "representatives" (and our "journalists") are treated nicely when they go abroad. bastards

Puts those outlandish 10% Trump tariffs into focus, huh.

That is excellent explanation of tariffs. I knew it but he said it much better than I ever could have.

No way the Fed will let go of the income tax. It's great data-mining on us...not just employer name & income, but all that data they gather centrally regarding investments, our homes, mortgages, real estate taxes, the personal property we have if we deduct those taxes, number of children, etc etc etc

I think I have mentioned in the past that an attorney once told me that every lawyer knows that the income tax return is unconstitutional as you are judged on information provided by the taxpayer in violation of the 5th Amendment prohibiting testimony against oneself. The attorney said no judge would rule against the return as they believed the government would fall as a result. As I understand it, most other advanced nations issue income tax bills and you only have to file a return if you are contesting the amount billed, similar to what is now done with property taxes in most locations. It would not do away with the tax itself, but a brave Federal judge could make the return unnecessary.

Time to send a Hawaiian judge an email telling him Trump likes keeping the returns.

I was gonna comment in my post that about 90% of what the Fed does to us is created on false premises.
