Shopping--What did you buy?

My usual grocery store doesn't carry everything I like and at the right price, so today I crossed the river to Redner's for frozen OJ which is $2 cheaper per can and condensed vegetable soup. Nearby is Aldi's so I stocked up there.

Road construction made the trip a pain, so next time I'll change the route.

Out of respect for (and fear of) many of our members, I shan't comment on the dumping of disdain. But if that happens, I got Plan B lined up and ready to go:

Smart !
Painting male faux birds so they looks like females. Trans birds.

Okay, what did I buy last?
Men’s soap from Amazon and a radiator for the GMC.

I already have a plethora of bandaids for all the nicks and cuts I’ll get when I remove the old radiator and install the new one.
The soap is for when I get done with the job and also for any time I feel the need to get soapy.

I bought medical stuff for a few different place, and ordered fake birds from Amazon.

I'm going to put one on each of my side view mirrors because I have a bird that perches there and poops all over my car. I hope he thinks the mirrors are already occupied. Only $9 for the set.
@John Brunner , the bird is attacking your mirror because it sees itself in the mirror and thinks it is another bird invading its territory. One was doing that to my car mirror last year. It was nesting in a bush right back of my carport. The best and cheapest thing to do to prevent the attacks is to put a plastic grocery bag over the mirror and tie it on someway. I gathered the bag up and put a twistem on it. It was easy to take off when I got ready to drive the car. The bird will quit doing that within a week or so.

I tried that. It did not work. It drove the bird to the window sill where it crapped all over the front and rear doors, all along the entire length of the car. Perhaps it saw its reflection in the windows. And I don't think it sees its reflection in the mirror because it perches on top of it and poops on top of the mirror, not just in front of it as though it were watching itself. Maybe it perches on the mirror as the most convenient spot and sees its reflection in the window.

Whatcha need is one of those “chuka-chuka” sprinklers with a motion sensor.
If a bird is detected then it goes off and even if the targeted bird DOES do its nasty work, ya get your mirror and half your rig washed anyway.

Actually, we had one to keep the squirrels away from the peach trees. Dunno if it really worked on the squirrels but it definitely scared our big dog Rusty.

Amazon sale, so I bought another pair of under-cabinet LED motion-sensor lamp strips. Magnetic, so one will go low on the inside of my front door. Another will remain "in stock" until I figure a good way to use it to illuminate a hallway linen closet. These have worked out well for me in the kitchen and bathroom. Shop around, this pair was only $10.

You got a link to those?

I installed under-cabinet puck lights with a touch pad that need to be replaced. They are 120vac with each one making a home run to the dimmer outlet. I installed 2 touch pads...one over my work area and another at the entrance to my kitchen. The problem is they have cheap sockets that take the 2 pronged halogen bulbs, and the sockets get slop in them so the bulbs stop making contact. I can't find replacement 120vac pucks of any style...it's all strip LED these days (often with a stupid remote that will get lost.)

And I've also got a linen closet that needs lit. I was gonna install a magnetic door switch and a 120vac light that goes on when the door is open. I never thought of motion-activated.

I was at ALDI today, and since I liked the shepherd's pie so much I cruised the frozen foods section again and picked up a bag of flounder fillets. Every once in a while I'll get a taste for a fish sandwich, and the Mrs. Pauls & Gorton's stuff just don't cut it. And a Filet O' Fish at McDonald's is outrageously expensive these days. I tried them when I got home. They're pretty good...and pretty cheap.

I got down to half a tank of gas, so I figured I'd fill up before it hits $4 a gallon.

$33 for 1/2 a tank. OOF!
Yeh, I picked a bad time to put some injector cleaner in the tank.

-Let the tank run low
-Put in no more than 12 gallons so the cleaner does not get diluted (I probably have 8-10 total gallons in it)
-Run that gas through it
-Then refuel

It's no big deal. We've all seen worse. I managed a station during Odd/Even gas crises days, when a gallon was over $10 at today's value of $1...if you could get it. This, too, shall pass. I just hope it passes quickly.

I bought a simple, one-blade, "Old Timer" folding knife for about $10, because, although I own several knives of various sizes and shapes, some of them quite expensive, I don't ordinarily walk around with a knife strapped onto my belt, yet I do often come across situations where having a knife handy would be helpful, even it's simply cutting plastic ties on something I bought somewhere, opening a package, or cutting something that I might have tied too tightly. This is a knife that I am more likely to be carrying in my pocket, and it's small enough not to freak anyone out in the unlikely event that someone would have a reason to go through my pockets. I have a beautiful, multi-purpose Swiss knife that is also a folding knife of about the same length, but it's too thick and bulky to carry around on a regular basis. Plus, the Old Timer knife is cheap enough that I wouldn't be overly disappointed if I were to lose it.

I bought this small key chain LED light a while ago and really like it:

The back end is for USB charging. The light turns on when you pull it out of the base, and has a magnet on the end of it. I mostly use it as a hood light for my car (which did not come with one) because the magnetic sticks the light to the hood. It's come in handy for other stuff.
