We were together a little over a year when we got married. Since we had both been previously married we didn't care much for vowing 'till death do us part' again because that obviously didn't go as planned. 🤣 accidental double dipping

The way I met my hubby.

I was on a date with a friend of his. We sometimes hung out at the "Grill". The boys would walk from car to car to talk. He was there without a date. He walked over to the car I was in and talked to us. He told me later that he said to himself, "I'm going to marry that girl." He showed up at my house the next day with the friend. Then the next day and the next day. I decided that the only way I was going to get rid of him was to marry him. And the rest is history. ☺️

My wife and I were recently talking about our first date. When my parents moved out of Brooklyn to Long Island our house was directly across the street from my wife's parent's house.

I was working on my car parked in the street and whatever I was doing I had just finished. I saw my future wife in the front yard of their house, and called her over. I told her I had to test ride the car and asked if she wanted to take a ride. She said yes.

While riding around, I asked her if she had a newspaper she responded, at home I do. I asked her if she wanted to go look up a movie she liked and we'll go tonight to see it. She said yes.
I remember checking the weather forecast because it had been hot and sticky, the weather was going to be hotter that night but no rain in the forecast.
She picked Bye Bye Birdie as the movie we would go see. my car was a 1949 Dodge, I parked the car, and I left the driver side window open because of the Heat expected. Halfway through the movie I remember hearing Thunder and thinking oh sh--, I left my car window open. Walking back to the car the rain had stopped it was just a quick burst, I made her jump because I grabbed her hand and I said I'll pick the movie next time. We laughed. When we reach the car I found my seat soaking wet but I didn't care I took a handkerchief out and put it down on the seat, it was all I had at the time.

That night taught me at least three things one don't believe the weather forecast, two do not let my wife/ girlfriend pick the movies, three keep your car windows closed.

I was sure a second date was not in my future, luckily I was wrong.

I was at Debonair Dance land, and about to leave when a guy in a cowboy hat came by and ask me to dance.
I did, it was nice. I decided to stay a bit longer. I watched as he approached other females to dance. Bent to their level as they sat, his hat removed, with hands behind his back. Same as when her asked me.Wow don't see that every day.
Anyway he asked me again, and for the rest of the evening, he never asked another to dance.
Let's just say it was a long week end for us both.Things blossomed and a year later he proposed at the same dance place.
Unknowing by me, family and friends were watching the whole thing, seated after back from the dance floor.
August 31st, will be 35 years! :)
