My wife and I were recently talking about our first date. When my parents moved out of Brooklyn to Long Island our house was directly across the street from my wife's parent's house.
I was working on my car parked in the street and whatever I was doing I had just finished. I saw my future wife in the front yard of their house, and called her over. I told her I had to test ride the car and asked if she wanted to take a ride. She said yes.
While riding around, I asked her if she had a newspaper she responded, at home I do. I asked her if she wanted to go look up a movie she liked and we'll go tonight to see it. She said yes.
I remember checking the weather forecast because it had been hot and sticky, the weather was going to be hotter that night but no rain in the forecast.
She picked Bye Bye Birdie as the movie we would go see. my car was a 1949 Dodge, I parked the car, and I left the driver side window open because of the Heat expected. Halfway through the movie I remember hearing Thunder and thinking oh sh--, I left my car window open. Walking back to the car the rain had stopped it was just a quick burst, I made her jump because I grabbed her hand and I said I'll pick the movie next time. We laughed. When we reach the car I found my seat soaking wet but I didn't care I took a handkerchief out and put it down on the seat, it was all I had at the time.
That night taught me at least three things one don't believe the weather forecast, two do not let my wife/ girlfriend pick the movies, three keep your car windows closed.
I was sure a second date was not in my future, luckily I was wrong.
