I agree maybe he just wants to be left alone for a while. I just hope it's not something that is bothering him from SOC.

I doubt his absence has anything to do with SOC. Remember he lives in angry grizzly bear and moose with a bad attitude country and the days are growing short, so anything happening on SOC shouldn't faze him. I am betting it is health related. I hope I am wrong and it is just an internet problem. I have read where some homesteader digs up the cable or fiber optics by mistake and repairs take weeks or months to restore, especially if just a few folks are on that leg.

I too have done an obituary hunt and came up negative. Which is a good thing. I've checked funeral parlors which listed about 40 to 50 people in that area for the last month that have passed thank God he wasn't on the list. I was thinking of calling the local hospitals but I'm not sure they would give patient information out, plus I'm not sure Don would want us prying in his business.

I agree. I believe Don is a private person so I don't believe anyone should be prying into his personal business. We are all concerned but there is a limit as to how much anyone should intrude.

I agree, we have to keep our prying within reason.
I just added my wife's email to my background write up for my SOC account.

Reasonable Prying. Now that might be a topic worth a discussion. It also might make a good novel or TV series. My mom used to say, "Keep prying and sooner or later you will open a can of worms."

I hate to sound morbid, but I have searched Alaska obituaries and thankfully found nothing. That makes me think that Don may be ill or even t hospitalized, but I truly hope he is OK. He has mentioned issues with his back a few times over the years, so it may be that he just doesn't feel like socializing.

A back issue as bad as he has had can cause spasms that will keep you even from using a laptop.

I don't know for sure if he set one up on SOC 2.0 or not, but he used a moose on the first forum. I am concerned about him because I wasn't aware of his being unhappy about the forum, and I find it hard to believe he just walked away from us without a goodbye.

I thought about it. Sick of defending Trump from people not understanding what he does or how he does it. He is not perfect by any means but the alternative was soooooo much worse.

I can't recall anything about his Avatar.

I was searching over the internet without any success. I'm not sure how far I can go with trying to contact him. I am worried for him, I am concerned for him, and I miss him.

I think something happened; health wise. I "think" not long ago, I read somewhere that he said he had a bad health scare and told his wife to call the kids. He was ok, but it gave him pause for a while. Also, I think I read somewhere that he said he told his wife that he felt really old and tired all of a sudden. I hope a bear or moose didn't hurt him. They wander around close too, or on his property.

I knew him on a homesteading forum before I started SOC, but that forum ended years ago.

Seems like when he first came back on here, he had a very different avatar, but later changed it to the generic one.
I do think something is wrong, this is so unlike him, even if he were upset.

This is exactly right. Plus he has not answered Yvonne's emails so that leads me to believe that he is unable to respond for some reason.

I had a look at the Wayback Machine and I didn't find any avatar for Don on SOC2 from the archived pages, so I guess he never had one here. He briefly joined the Discussion HQ forum when SOC1 died but he hasn't been on there in a very long time.

He had a moose avatar on the old SOC. He also had a moose on the HQ forum. I don't think he ever had a avatar on this new and improved SOC2.
