Homemade swings were the greatest!

The swing anchors were set high up, the ropes or chains long, so when you swung you got serious air-time!

I would close my eyes as I swung high and it would fill my tummy with butterflies! And sometimes I'd wait until the swing was at its farthest forward swinging position, and just before the swing started backwards again, I'd jump off! Used to give me tingles in my tummy!

Back in my senior high years there was a corner store one block away from the school, and the owner sold individual cigarettes for .10¢ a piece. Come lunch break, students en-masse, would flood to the store for their nicotine fix.

I remember school day spares, where an hour of free time could be enjoyed, and over to the store we'd go for a bottle of Coca-Cola, a chocolate bar, a bag of chips, whatever. The store front was eerily the same as the image posted, with a short flight of old rickety wooden stairs leading to the entrance.

Gosh, what a walk down memory lane.
