Back in my senior high years there was a corner store one block away from the school, and the owner sold individual cigarettes for .10¢ a piece. Come lunch break, students en-masse, would flood to the store for their nicotine fix.
I remember school day spares, where an hour of free time could be enjoyed, and over to the store we'd go for a bottle of Coca-Cola, a chocolate bar, a bag of chips, whatever. The store front was eerily the same as the image posted, with a short flight of old rickety wooden stairs leading to the entrance.
Gosh, what a walk down memory lane.
