Are they mice or voles? Voles look a lot like mice, actually not as ugly, and love damaging your lawn. Krystal is right, a cat is the answer. I have neighborhood cats that patrol my place and keep those little vermin few and far between. Best way to attract neighborhood cats is put out an open can of tuna out where the mice are.

We live in an area where people move a lot and there is also empty fields, so small rodents abound in this part of town. We tried all kinds of traps and poisons, and nothing worked.
We had a really cold winter and started putting out food and water on our covered front porch for the stray or feral cats, and they started showing up every day to eat, and now we don’t have any rats, squirrels, or other rodents in the yard , and even the birds have stopped eating Rusty’s outside dog food from his food dish.
And we now have 4 permanent inside/outside kitty cats which we love and enjoy, so it worked out for good, all the way around.

My husband says "mice " ...I haven't seen cats ....The neighbour has a beautiful cat, but she doesn't let it go outside !

We will try anything ! can't get a cat but Will try to see if there's one hanging around your way .

Will let you know how it goes.... Thanks ☺️

If you have Aa LOT of mice, voles, or rats, and no predators to speak of, you can make one of these. I have bunch of these that are not so elegant, but work great to control voles since our barn cat's demise. It has saved our orchard tress form winter damage,

Here if you do that, you attract more possums and raccoons.

Indoors, I put a cap on a short length (2 1/2-3"wide) of pvc, maybe 2 1/2' long. I stand it up against something. Drop a slice of apple with some peanut butter into it. Mice slide in but can't get out. Out in the barn I put small containers with half corn meal mixed with baking soda in them, hiding them slightly. I guess mice can't burp or vomit. I don't want to poison chickens with mouse poison.

Getting rid of mice outdoors is tough. Poison might kill things that eat the poisoned mice. Snap Traps might injure any critter that tries to take the bait.

Every few years I get one or two in the house and I use Snap Traps. Another idea for outdoors is a bucket trap. I grabbed this vid at random:

If you put water in it, they just drown. Lots of different variations on You Tube. You can also buy kits that go on a gallon bucket:

When you put water in the bucket, the idea is to make it deep enough that they have to tread water to keep their heads up, and eventually they tire and drown. If you fill it too high, they can grab the rim of the bucket and pull themselves out. Some folks add antifreeze for a quick kill, but then you got other critters to worry about.

My husband tried the bucket way....it doesn't work . It did work last year but now it seems they know (smart ones ) even the traps ...Tried everything on the traps , even good cheese 😂

On you tube they were saying to put marshmallows 🤔

Thanks
