I wasn't allowed to help with the wringer. My Mum was worried I would get my hand stuck in the wringer.

Same here, Milly, I never put things through the rollers, but everything else was fair game.

How about ironing?
Back in my childhood/teen days ironing was a given. I'm sure a select few young ones iron, but I'll bet very few.
Anyone else remember ironing when you were growing up?

I used to enjoy ironing.
I was bought up on a small, family run poultry farm. I used to help grade and pack the eggs. The small family farms are on the whole a thing of the past. They are now big concerns.

I still enjoy ironing and do it from spring until fall, pressing hubby's collection of button-down sports shirts along with things I wear.
I'm surprised by the vast numbers of housewives/homemakers today that don't even own an ironing board.

Sure to bring back memories for those who survived the days of old-fashioned cloth diapers/nappies!
Growing up with baby siblings in the home, my days doing this started around age 10, even though I was changing diapers long before that, but by age 10, this big sis was doing the dreaded diaper dunk!
Up and down (again and again) in the toilet while the water swirled, followed by a quick wring by hand, then into the plastic diaper pail the diapers would go! Had to do this when I babysat for moms around the neighbourhood, too, because old-school cloth diapers were alive and well and still the order of the day in most every home!
And OMG... when the soiling escaped the diapers and got into the rubber pants, what a mess that was! Sometimes the elastics never came clean, and the rubber pants would stain pink around the elastic leg holes and on the seat!
