My Wife's Full Mouth Teeth Extraction

@Cody Fousnough Thinking of Nancy this morning and hoping she can get that endoscopy soon, so treatment for the ulcer can begin, if needed. Have they put her on a fluid measurement regime? Does she have a lot of swelling in her legs? I hope her kidney function is improving. I recently went thru the same thing with a friend. They put her on a couple of meds that are keeping her kidneys in the normal range.

I don't take those pain relievers or tylenol since I found out the damage they do to the kidneys and liver. I think I destroyed them back in my youth already. But I have a pretty high pain threshold. I would prefer a form of oxy but that is not as easy to get as aspirin which can also cause bleeding.
I am angry with how the medical community handles pain, in general, these days. A friend went in for bad pain and they basically threw him out of the ER. He has had surgeries and metal in his spine but he is young (50) and handsome with some tatoos so they figured he was an addict. Did not even check for surgical scars or give an xray. Just threw him out. He was crying.
Another man I knew worked at a pain center with crippling arthritis. They knew him and would not help him either.
No wonder people try fentanyl.
Maybe Ibuprofen & other pain relievers can do damage if taken long term. I doubt they can cause harm when taken for a few days while recovering from a temporary condition or surgery.

There is more to these two stories.

The soft food she liked most at the hospital was their mashed potatoes and brown gravy, the juice in their Chicken & Noodle soup and vanilla shakes. As for the Tylenol and the Ibuprofen, it's a "damned if you do and damned if you don't" type thing. Tylenol is/can be bad for the liver and Ibuprofen is/can be bad for the kidneys.

When I was in the hospital, same hospital she was in, in April 2023, my hospital doctor asked me what I was taking for my shoulder pain (from rotator cuff surgery on each shoulder). I told him that my VA doctor had prescribed me 800mg Ibuprofen. He told me instantly, "stop using Ibuprofen!".

Anyway, the GI Department came and got her at 9AM last Thursday for her upper endoscopy. She was gone from her room for three hours. When she came back, we both got teary eyed seeing each other. I looked on her hospital portal and it stated that she was scheduled to be released on Friday and her hospital doctor confirmed that on Friday morning. We were both so, so happy! An RN came to her room around 3PM Friday and explained her medications to take when she is at home. Hospital Transport came at 4PM, with a wheelchair to get her. They stopped at the hospital pharmacy to get three medications and I pulled the Durango around in front of the entrance.

She was so, so happy that night to be able to sleep in her own bed.

She was prescribed a medication, to be taken at noon and then at bedtime for 30 days, for her ulcer. After that, taken once daily. Also given a pain medicine that she can take when her gums hurt (basically, in the middle of the night. And, a new blood pressure medication. Guess the doctor doesn't like the Losartan she was taking. Obviously, no more Ibuprofen. Ice pack only. They also had her stop taking her Gingko Binola supplement.

She sees her dentist on Tuesday AM and her PCP on Thursday. Her hospital doctor gave her a letter to cover her absence from work, which also included a "return to work" this coming Monday.

She has gotten very, very tired of eating soft foods, like yogurt, pudding and jello..............but, that's the only thing she can eat for now.
