Interesting side effects. Causes what it's advertised to prevent?

Severe jaw bone problems (osteonecrosis) may occur. Your healthcare provider should examine your mouth before you start EVENITY and may tell you to see your dentist. Ask your healthcare provider or dentist about good mouth care.

Unusual thigh bone fractures. Symptoms of this type of fracture include new or unusual pain in your hip, groin, or thigh.

Along with that idea: why millions of people suddenly became "sick".
I hate to be "that guy," but can you tell me what the answer is? I loathe videos where the guy says "I'm gonna tell you..." and then doesn't.

edit to add...here's the time hacks of the video:

Basically the medical community changed the goal posts. They lowered the long held blood pressure numbers and cholesterol guidelines when new drugs were made available...

Thanks. I got bit by that when A1C thresholds got lowered. Suddenly I was "pre-diabetic." I told my doctor I was also "pre-dead."
I had to take hubby to emergency room a couple of days ago for an extreme bloody nose. (No, I didn't cause it.) I picked him up after treatment and asked if they had given him anything considering his recent anemia diagnosis.
Nope. So I put together a plan and got some supplements and chicken liver for dinner. Straight iron supplements is a bad idea.
Then a woman called for a 'follow up'.
YOU?? set up a plan. I said, Yes, I do it all the time.
No answer but to say if issues arise, call our Doctor.
Our doctor did not offer suggestions with the diagnosis.
I find that they are too eager if drug companies push stuff and not very interested otherwise.

Re A1c: Some doctors understand that A1c goes up as we age. The threshold for diagnosing diabetes or pre diabetes used to be an A1c above 6 or a fasting glucose of 100 or higher. Those numbers have been age adjusted & an A1c of 7 is normal for someone over 60. Some doctors are living in the past & want their patients to start medication based on older numbers (probably encouraged by drug company perks).
A friend (70 yrs old) was diagnosed as diabetic when her A1c was 6.8.

Similar situation with BP. As we age, our arteries become less elastic & more narrow, so our BP has to go up to compensate to get enough blood to the brain. Taking drugs to interfere with the aging process offers no benefit & substantial risk.

Let's not forget that there are lawyers on the other side of the scale, ready to sue doctors at the drop of a hat. Suppose a doctor who is conservative on meds has a patient who has a heart attack or develops other problems. Prescribing meds is the low-risk path. And in this day & age, I would not be surprised to hear that Pfizer et al funds malpractice lawyers so as to boost the sale of pharmaceuticals.

But, on the other hand, we are living longer and in better health than generations before us.
That's what we are led to believe. But the truth is somewhat different:

Life expectancy has seen historic and consecutive drops primarily driven by the COVID-19 pandemic, an unprecedented surge in drug overdoses (like the opioid epidemic), and rising rates of chronic conditions like heart disease. Deep-rooted wealth inequality, poor public health infrastructure, and a lack of access to care also heavily contribute to these numbers.

The decline in life expectancy is not caused by a single issue, but rather a combination of interconnected crises:

  • COVID-19: The pandemic directly caused a tremendous amount of mortality and wiped out decades of life expectancy gains, disproportionately impacting vulnerable communities.

  • Drug Overdoses:
Unintentional injuries and drug-related deaths (especially involving synthetic opioids like fentanyl) have surged, wiping out years of potential life, particularly among working-age adults.
    • Chronic Diseases: Rising rates of heart disease, obesity, and liver disease continue to rise due to increasingly sedentary lifestyles and heavily processed diets.

    • Systemic Disparities: Widespread wealth inequality and structural inequities mean that vulnerable populations—such as Non-Hispanic Black Americans and Indigenous populations—have experienced the most severe drops in lifespan.

  • Notice that prescription drugs are not mentioned - even though they are responsible for 106,000 - 250,000 deaths per year.
