Just More of Ken's Nonsense

I have a hat with mosquito netting in the brim to take down because black fly bites are the worst for me. I also have just a plain netting that can pull over any cap to keep them out of my face and neck. And now the deer flies are out.
I have a hat with a floppy brim. I saturate the brim with DEET so it stays off my skin and seems to deter the skeeters pretty well. Mosquitoes and flies are our only real pests here. In the bush, we had many more.

We will be making another road trip to Michigan tomorrow for my brother's birthday. I've only got two full brothers left, and one of them is eight years older than I am, the other twelve or so. I'll enjoy the visit, but I dread the trip. I think my half-brothers will be there too.I expect to only be there for a few days because I don't want to be away forever. I'm getting close to getting Smoke to make the big step of becoming a house cat, and my being away is going to set things back, as it is. Someone will be putting food out, but there will be no one here to keep the raccoons from eating it.
I am supposed to be at a family reunion/birthday for my second oldest brother this weekend. We just had a reunion last summer. I don't mind one every 5 years or so but this every year gathering is not my idea of a good time and each time I say I am not going to do this again. I go out of loyalty to the core family and my niece loves to put them on but most of the activities are for the younger members of the family.
My sister just cancelled because her son, who had been deployed to Jordan/Kuwait since last August is coming back to the US for a bit and she wants to fly out to meet him.
Pros: I get to see my brothers again while they are still here. I get to visit my horse up north on the way. My one daughter who wanted to go can.
Cons: I have to drive 5 hours each way. It will be hot. I had my husband to the emergency room this week and he does not want to go so will stay home alone. Other daughter who does not want to go can check on him but...Someone will have to do chores...

It's pouring rain, and there are accidents everywhere, so, since traffic is barely moving anyhow, we stopped for the night at a La Quinta in Auburn, Massachusetts. I had hoped to make it into New York today, but here we are. La Quinta isn't our usual choice, but this one isn't so bad. I forgot the charger for my MacBook Pro, although I think the one for my wife's Mac Air will fit. I didn't forget it, actually; I have two, so one is generally in the carrying case, but I must have taken both of them out at some point. No matter, I see that her charger does work, and my MacBook will hold a charge for about 16 hours.

Try the front desk. They generally have a catch all box of chargers.
