It's the 1980's, what are you doing?

Toilet training elder son.
How's things going, Milly?

Have you got him trained during the day fully yet? Do you have your son in training pants yet?

My neighbour Debbie, is in the midst of toilet training her oldest. Debbie has her daughter all but trained through the day, but is still going the route of nighttime diapers on her at bedtime. Cloth diapers definitely help I think, because the child feels the wet, and Debbie uses cloth diapers.

My oldest is now 24 months and pulls at her rubber pants when she's wet, which my mom said is a good sign, so I've been sitting her on the baby potty when I get her up from her crib first thing in the morning.

I pat the front of my pants when asking her if she's wet or has to go pee-pee, and when asking her if she's gone poo-poo or has to go poo-poo, I pat my bottom, then reach down and gently pat her bottom. It's taken a few days, but dear daughter has started patting her own diapers/pants in the front when she's wet, and her bottom when she's soiled, and she'll come to me while patting her diapers as if to tell me that she needs changing. My mom said girls tend to be easier to train than boys, and that girls tend to train earlier.

My baby brother was a late trainer, and I remember babysitting a couple of kids that wore diapers until they were age 4, and that was boys.
