How's the Weather Where You Are?

We just has storms go through. The temp dropped over 25°F in an hour. We were supposed to get 1/2" of rain in an hour, but it ended up being sprinkles. There are severe storms in other parts of the county now, and a slight chance here until 10PM.

The heatwave is over...for now.

FWIW, all rodeos we've been to in the past, whether it's being held indoors or outdoors, even when it's hot, we are wearing our Wrangler jeans and, quite possibly, a long sleeve shirt/me and blouse/wife. That's what I had to wear in the arena at every rodeo I was at, before I met my wife. Actually, PRCA has a dress-code for being in a rodeo arena.

Other than that, we will definitely be HOT next weekend, at least that is what the forecast is calling for. IOW, 101 high, which is very, very unusual for here.

It surprises many that I wear long sleeved cotton shirts over a tshirt and jeans all summer. As of they last couple of years, I spray them with Repel. That keeps ticks off of me and seems to keep chiggers at bay. I have several types of terrain to cross. I sweat but the long sleeves can mop it up.

I seldom wear jeans anymore; I'm usually wearing knit shorts year round. I notice that our lawn crew wears full "cover up" garb, including hats, long sleeves, jeans, and scarves on their necks. It looks hotter than hell but I guess the cotton fabric wicks perspiration and keeps the sun off.

As for "commando," that is a ridiculous idea and something I would never consider. I like the comfort of cotton underwear and can't imagine how nasty it would feel to not have them on.

I remember that my grandparents always wore long sleeved shirts and hats because they were out working in the fields all the time.

My husband has started to wear long sleeve cotton tees, when he is outside mowing the grass or fishing. He has become sensitive to the heat, since he started taking blood pressure pills. In the extreme heat, the sun makes his skin feel prickly so he wears long sleeves during those times.

I guess you know that they make long-sleeve shirts specifically for summertime. They wick the moisture and have UV protection. You never see guys in fishing tournaments with exposed arms.

I have one but have yet to try it out. Seems I reflexively reach for the t-shirts.
He said it felt like he was wrapped in plastic wearing those polyester wicking shirts. He will wear short sleeve shirts in the spring and fall, but when it gets to be too hot in the middle of summer, the sun seems to bother him more.

My husband said the same thing about those shirts. One of the kids gave him one a couple of years ago and he tried to wear it once. Immediately changed back to a cotton t-shirt.
