    Let’s talk about fiber!

Isn't this the one that's basically made of sticks & twigs (cellulose)? It's tough to figure out if stuff like this is OK for daily use because admonitions to not take it for more than 7 days are geared towards "You may have a chronic condition that requires medical attention" and not...

Generators, Solar Panels, Alternate Power Sources

I hear different things. A guy who installed propane generators told me that without line power, the battery recharging circuitry on solar systems cannot work. The web says that--per the Code--the panels shut down regardless of what type of solar system you have so that the voltage won't feed...

How's the Weather Where You Are?

I have one but have yet to try it out. Seems I reflexively reach for the t-shirts.

I guess you know that they make long-sleeve shirts specifically for summertime. They wick the moisture and have UV protection. You never see guys in fishing tournaments with exposed arms.

Generators, Solar Panels, Alternate Power Sources

That's what has stopped me from getting a generator. Not only the storage of the gas, but keeping it fresh. I have no motivation to engage the cycle of emptying old cans of gas in my car so I can then go refill those cans...lather/rinse/repeat just on the off-chance there will be some extended...

How's the Weather Where You Are?

Air temps are no longer over 100° but the Feels Like still is, at 104°. I need to cut my grass. The rain we got has it growing again and there's more forecast for the coming week, to the extent I should really believe it.

    Random Political Discussion

Sorry. I think I misunderstood. You were saying that shutting down the escalators was a stupid idea. My bad. Yeh, I lived outside of DC when Metro was built and have ridden it many times. For something built in the modern era, it lacks reasonable accommodations. I guess you've been in...

So no one is allowed to use stairs? I guess solid food is off the table for everyone, too.

For some reason, walnuts on Nuts.com are cheap...$5/#, which is 1/2 of Walmart's price. Pecans are about 10% higher than Walmart but are from Georgia and not "maybe Mexico, too." These stupid kidney stones limit my options on this stuff. I love almonds (and used to eat a lot of them), but the...

How's the Weather Where You Are?

We just has storms go through. The temp dropped over 25°F in an hour. We were supposed to get 1/2" of rain in an hour, but it ended up being sprinkles. There are severe storms in other parts of the county now, and a slight chance here until 10PM. The heatwave is over...for now.

Guilty Pleasures Food Favorites and Snacks

I bought mine last January and the quality was fine. It's just tough for me to put together a $50 order. I added Macadamia nuts and pumpkin seeds to try them with some spice coating, but it was a waste of money. I guess I could just buy walnuts and pecans and freeze what I won't use...

I've not looked at Amazon's prices. I know I had to hit a $50 order minimum on Nuts.com to get free shipping from Nuts.com, but don't recall if there was a Handling fee that made shipping prohibitively expensive so you really had no choice but to buy a lot. I believe there is. Have you...

I've commented before that I lived around the corner from a place called The Cheesecake Factory. They make cheesecakes for regional restaurants and had a retail counter. I was eating a 2# cheesecake every week, all by myself. I always put fresh fruit on it. Kiwi was my favorite. Regarding...

    Random Political Discussion

Here's the mentality of the Left. In order to save electricity, they turn power off to the escalators. But rather than let people use them as stairs, the escalators are then blocked off, forcing people to use the elevator instead.

Guilty Pleasures Food Favorites and Snacks

Have any of you ever bought stuff from Nuts.com? I bought some pecans and walnuts from them some time ago. I forget which one is close to the Walmart in-store price and which is more expensive, but without comparing them side-by-side (or having a lab to compare nutrients) I could not really...

    What Are You Doing Today?

I soaked some walnuts overnight and put them in the dehydrator this morning. I'll coat them with a spice mix tomorrow.

    What Are You Doing Today?

There is someone in the "neighborhood" that set some off last night but I suspect it was just a warm-up for this evening. I'm a little concern for the risk of fire, We're supposed to have a brief storm roll through here early this evening. Maybe it will wet things down a bit and then move on...
