Shopping--What did you buy?

The cheap paper towels are also thinner. I still have one roll left at the barn and one sheet isn’t worth a pinch of salt to wipe the counter area where I mix the feed with water.😡

Another slap in the wallet is the candy bars kids have to sell for school. I paid two dollars for a 1.3 ounce chocolate bar one of my chiropractor’s staff was selling for her daughter. 1.3 ounces isn’t much bigger than one Hershey’s Kisses used to be💸💸. Annnnd, when I read the fine print on the wrapper, it said $2.50 in Alaska & Hawaii 😳😳
Like a lot of folks, I'll contribute money to those causes but will not buy the products...contests be damned.

Lol. That is what I do. But I offered money instead last time and the kid brought out a chart where I could just give $50? $100?.... I said put the chart away and gave him 5 or $10. I know the kids don't get much of the product money. Kind of sad.

I usually kick the Girl Scouts $20 and the Boy Scouts a little more (because the Girl Scouts rake in the money with those cookies.) I've yet to get anything but gratitude in return. No one has had the audacity to try to up-sell me like that.

I bought a new pair of sneakers with a wide toe box. I think they look like clown shoes, and my husband laughed at me and said they do not. I understand that a lot of runners wear these type of shoes. I am not a runner! My feet hurt and I need my toes to spread out. They are comfortable but I think they are rather ugly.

Remember when Seniors wore what were called 'sensible'. They were not considered stylish but they were extremely well made with the thought of older feet in mind or at least with what they understood. I relied on arch supports but when my bones went back in place I can wear shoes without. But running ain't gonna happen.

Have you looked at Vivaia?
I had a blank moment and bought several pairs of Sketchers. Great bargains! All but one pair were new when a friend took them. Please take your time and go shopping. There are comfortable shoes and sneakers out there for wider feet.

I found long thread cotton sheets with 18 inch fitted sheets. Came out of the wash just fine. Second set showed up today. Also to navy tops, plain, fitted to go with wide leg jeans. About done for winter for me and SO. Need a fleece vest for an older friend and a short but warm housecoat for Mumsy. Buttons no zipper.

I wonder how many people buy paper towels from the Dollar Store because they are cheaper per roll, not noticing that they're half the size. My wife does that, but I'm pretty sure she realizes how small they are. We usually use the Amazon towels that I have a subscription to, but sometimes we run out before the new case comes. When people were ripping other people's hair out trying to get to the few paper towel and toilet paper rolls that were left during the COVID nonsense, Amazon kept my subscription coming.
I remember it well. While driving through a parking lot, I'd LOL at people's cars stuffed with TP. The trunk wouldn't close & the whole inside of the car was packed so all you could see through the window was "Charmin."

I found a version of White Cloud toilet paper that did not clog the line going to my septic system as Charmin did, and soon after Walmart stopped carrying it. Then COVID hit. My only local source was the grocery store. I bought some online, but the packaging, the number of rolls, the "extra large" or whatever they called it were all over the place. It was weird. I don't think White Cloud really has that many variations in packaging or roll size for each type of TP they manufacturer. I know I got ripped off in some instances. I bought a "jumbo pak" of 18 rolls or so, and the TP was loosely wound on the tube. I bet each roll was less than half of the TP on a regular tightly-wound one.

I filled all the vehicles with gas. Reports were coming in about shortages mid country. Nebraska, Kansas, Montana...? I wonder if it is all the flooding down south?

I just quickly read 2 things:

1-The emergency covers 6 states: North Dakota, Nebraska, Michigan, Illinois, Kentucky and Maryland.
2-One issue in a September article is an Exxon refinery in Illinois that closed down because of floods. It supplies 11% of the midwest's fuel.

The outages seem scattered and disconnected to me. Here's a 9 minute video discussing the reasons. I did not watch it.

eta: I watched the video. The guy mentioned Omaha shortages, but doesn't really add any information regarding the underlying reasons. It's not worth the watch.

Don't be silly! It's because of Trump! I am thinking of bringing my horse home.
Maybe not.
